This is the craziest fragrance ad we’ve ever seen
Kenzo’s latest commercial is like nothing you’ve seen before
What happens when you mix radical film director Spike Jonze with an “unprecedented” new fragrance? Pure. Genius.
French fashion house Kenzo has released the latest perfume ad for Le Nouveau Parfum, and it has to be one of the best ads we’ve seen all year.
The Jonze-directed short film begins with the gorgeous Margaret Qualley (who recently starred in The Nice Guys) at a typical suave black tie ball. And while it sounds like nothing too out of the ordinary, the ad takes a rather dramatic turn, which you just need to see for yourself:
Margaret’s chaotic dancing to the beats of Sam Spiegel and Ape Drums all while pulling ugly faces couldn’t be further from what we’re used to from a perfume commercial. "When we think about perfume campaigns, we think about a pretty girl with a bottle. This clip is exactly the opposite," Qualley explained.
It’s undeniably similar to Fatboy Slim’s Weapon of Choice with Christopher Walken, a film also directed by Jonze.
The actual fragrance, Kenzo Le Nouveau Parfum is a floral feminine scent featuring notes of peony, ambroxan, and Egyptian jasmine. And we can’t wait to smell the scent behind the story to see how they match up.
