The perfumes ads we couldn’t get enough of in 2015
The most buzz-worthy celebrities fronted some of the world’s biggest fragrance campaigns, and needless to say, we were hooked. From Victoria’s Secret Angels to one of the biggest movie actresses in the world, here were the most memorable fragrance commercials from 2015.
Dior J’Adore
For over ten years, Charlize Theron has been the face of Dior’s famed J’Adore fragrance. Shot by French fashion photographer and video director Jean-Baptiste Mondino, her latest campaign was released in November 2015, and features the gorgeous blonde in a sparkly sequined Dior Couture gown climbing a rope towards a high ceiling - a nod to the breaking-boundaries attitude held by the brand.
“I feel that there was a real effort to put towards maintaining the same woman, but paying attention to the idea that there’s a natural evolution that happens to all of us,” says Theron. “There was definitely stepping stones in the last ten years for that woman to find her freedom.”
Who knew that fancy bottles of perfume could be used as (very expensive) bowling balls? Chanel’s newest scent ‘Chance Eau Vive’ was released to the world in a short video featuring emerging models Rianne Van Rompaey, Sigrid Agren, Cindy Bruna, and Romy Schonberger, who played a round of super-luxe bowling. From the intricate set design complete with Chanel bowling alleys to the matching couture crop tops and billowing skirts, we had this video on repeat just to catch all the designer details.
With the announcement of nabbing Behati Prinsloo as their newest ambassador (she’s most well known for her stint as a Victoria’s Secret Angel), Juicy Couture launched a 30 second viral video to celebrate their latest fragrance ‘I Am Juicy Couture.’ The result is a fast-paced video that shows off her gorgeous face and toned body.
"I love what the perfume stands for," Prinsloo told instylemag.com.au. "The message to girls is to be independent, to be reckless, glamorous and not apologetic. It's about being individual and nonconforming, not being afraid of who you are."
It’s also been announced that the supermodel is currently working with Juicy Couture on a collection of staples such as bomber jackets, sandals, sunnies, and t-shirts.
Marc Jacobs took a different direction last year with a new fragrance launch ‘Decadence’, which explored notes of plum, amber and vetiver - a scent that’s completely opposite to his sweeter and more well-known Daisy line. The advertisement featured a short-haired Adriana Lima in a super sexy yet gritty 30 second video, where she playfully holds the handbag-shaped bottle over her taut body.
“I wanted this Liz Taylor–esque, almost squirmy sex appeal, this sultriness, and Adriana does give that. It’s a spirit that I’d like to believe exists in everybody,” says Marc Jacobs. “How people turn it on and how they see it, that’s up to them.”
2015 was the year that Kendall Jenner’s career skyrocketed, following several magazine covers, a coveted spot on the Victoria’s Secret runway, and an impressive ambassador role for Estee Lauder. In this short video to promote their newest fragrance Modern Muse Le Rouge, Kendall is shown walking down the street on her own, while red fashion items magically appear for her to accessories with. We’re left with so many questions – how was this filmed? How did the clothing just appear like that? How did she levitate onto the yellow cab? We’ve Googled these questions endlessly, but it seems like the production team are keeping it under wraps for now.
