Considering the unusual wet weather Australia is currently experiencing, the demand for frizz-fighting hair solutions has never been so high. And while we’ve always been big fans of hairspray on a toothbrush for taming flyaways, we recently came across another static hair hack: foil.
Yessiree, we are talking about that very same roll residing in your third kitchen drawer. Think of it like blotting paper for your hair from now on. Although this solution is only going to enhance shine while putting flyaways back in their place.
How to use foil to stop frizz
Now, it’s important to note that the main type of frizz the foil hack will work on is static. So although we mentioned wet weather before, you’ll have more luck if your frizz is being caused by friction. Think: hair that stands up after brushing.
The good news is that using foil to make it smooth again couldn’t be easier. Simply tear yourself a section that fits neatly in the palm of your hand, and run it down sectioned lengths of your hair from roots to ends.
Hair stylist Maria Aiello showed just how great the results can be in a viral TikTok video:
It works for the simple reason that foil discharges static. Some people even roll up balls of it to pop in the dryer as the same theory works for clothes static.
