5 beauty products Charli XCX can't live without

Following the success of the release of her album BRAT, Charli XCX is on the road co-headlining the North American SWEAT tour with her bestie and fellow pop icon, Troye Sivan.

The pair have already welcomed an impressive list of surprise guest performers, including Lorde and Addison Rae. But despite the grand scale of the production, Charli has kept her on tour beauty routine relatively simple.

The freshly-appointed Valentino Beauty ambassador obviously packs a few items from the luxury makeup brand, but as she recently told Allure, there's really only five beauty products she always travels with.

1/ A conditioning hair serum

"I’m in this zone [with my hair] where I'm trying to do as little as possible to it," Charli told Allure. "I think it took me a really long time to actually embrace my curls. Growing up I had such curly hair, my mum had really curly hair, and I think because of that all I really wanted was to have straight hair."

"In the last few years, I've kind of just, I don't know, grown into it," she went on to say. "I began to feel more confident wearing it in this natural way."

She embraces her natural hair texture by using as few products in her hair as possible, and she doesn't blow dry it either.

"I honestly just get out of the shower and let it airdry. Sometimes I'll smooth the kind of top area, but generally I just let it do its thing," she explained. "Sometimes I'll just tie my hair up for a day in a deep conditioning mask, and that's kind of it. I really like Kérastase [Nutritive 8HR Magic Night Hair Serum] ($78 from Adore Beauty)."

2/ Party girl black eyeliner

"I love going in the waterline [with Valentino Colorgraph Waterproof Gel Eyeliner Pencil in 'Rockstud Noir'] ($59.54 from Nordstrom), and kind of pulling it out [towards the temples]," Charli shared with the publication.

"If it gets a little smudgy, I'm never mad at that. I always kind of like to look like I've been out partying the night before, which in some cases, I have been… but other times, I can rely on my makeup to make it look like that," she explained.

However, according to Charli she can be a little lazy when it comes to removing all of her eyeliner before she goes to bed.

"Sometimes [the liner] is on my eye the next day, but I think that always looks good," she confessed. "I like it to have that kind of worn-in, party-girl look to it."

3/ A sheet mask she can watch a movie in

"I really love a good sheet mask," Charli told Allure.

"I just got into the brand [Patchology's FlashMasque Hydrate 5 Minute Sheet Mask] ($21 from ASOS), [and] I really like [the] 111SKIN [Y Theorem Bio Cellulose Facial Mask] ($158.88 from Net-A-Porter)," she added.

"I put on a sheet mask and watch loads of movies and lie there, and that's kind of my beauty routine," she joked.

4/ A face-snatching gua sha

"My TikTok algorithm is absolutely flooded with gua sha routines and face exercises, so currently I'm trying to do my face exercises every day," Charli shared. "I don’t know if it’s doing anything, but my face definitely feels sore afterwards, so that’s something."

Although Charli hasn't specified her favourite gua sha to use, there are plenty available in Australia to shop with great reviews.

Try: SALT BY HENDRIX Cloud Gua Sha Rose Quartz ($34.95 from Adore Beauty), Mount Lai Gua Sha Facial Lifting Tool Jade ($47 from Sephora), and Sisley Paris Ginkgo Gua Sha ($210 from Sisley Paris).

5/ A signature lip shade

"In the [SWEAT] tour we do seven different outfit changes, and they can be elaborate," Charli explained. "The only thing I really have time for when I go backstage is lipstick, so I just grab it, put it on, and go. It always works out."

"I'm always saying 'It’s Charli Baby,' so [Spike Valentino Buttery Matte Refillable Lip Color in 'It's Valentino Baby'] ($75.21 from Nordstrom) kind of feels like my signature shade almost," she joked.

The cranberry-hued lipstick is infused with lip-conditioning cotton oil extract, and a twelve per cent pigment concentration for a vibrant, long-lasting finish that apparently holds up through an entire set. Impressive.
