Celine is launching a fragrance collection for the first time in 50 years
"Each perfume relies on the memory of emotions”
The appointment of renowned fashion designer Hedi Slimane as Creative Director for Celine last year heralded a new era for the couture house. Slimane quickly set about revamping the brand with one of the most notable (and controversial) changes: a decision to drop the accent from the ‘e’ in the Celine logo.
With news of Slimane’s appointment also came an announcement that excited beauty aficionados around the world… For the first time in 50 years, the brand would launch a fragrance collection.
Yesterday, the Celine Haute Parfumerie collection was finally unveiled and it’s downright exquisite.
Blurring the notions of gender, the 11-strong perfume range is unisex and has been created as an “olfactory journal, where each perfume relies on the memory of emotions, on a specific memory or the narrative of [Slimane],” explains the brand’s press release.
According to the brand, linking the multifaceted collection is one singular olfactory imprint: “A powdery note, highly prized by [Slimane] since his beginnings as a perfumer.”
Other notes that feature in the collection include tree moss, iris, rose and chypre accord in reference to French perfumeries of the ‘60s and ‘70s.
With names like Parade, Reptile and Nightclubbing, there is a fragrance for every mood and occasion.
The weighty, modernist-style bottles have been designed by Hedi Slimane in keeping with the tradition of French glassmaking. Needless to say, they’re absolutely stunning and we’re already dreaming of how perfect they’d look sitting atop our dressers.
The Celine Haute Parfumerie collection will be available exclusively at Celine boutiques worldwide from late October 2019.
