Ah, freckles. Most of us have them, and most of us have spent an alarming amount of time trying to cover them up throughout our lives.

It's no wonder why, either; TV shows, music videos and movies back in the day did a damn good job at hiding anything that made faces unique in any which way.

Remember icons like Lindsay Lohan appearing onscreen? We do. Mean Girls (aside from being the best movie ever) was basically the sign that everyone who'd ever felt iffy about showing off their freckles was looking for, confirming that they weren't something to hide away beneath 10 trillion layers of concealer and foundation, but something to embrace.

And now, thanks to the rise of the #makeupfreeselfie, we’ve been discovering that plenty of our favourite celebs have freckles, too. HD makeup is incredible, sure, but at the end of the day, we just want to see real skin from time to time.

Markle has long been known for flaunting her freckles and speaking out about them being covered up. “My pet peeve is when my skin tone is changed and my freckles are airbrushed out," she once told Allure.

Can we just take a second to appreciate Barbie Ferreira's vacation glow? Phenomenal. While holidaying in Brazil, the Euphoria actress blessed the 'gram with this fresh-faced selfie and honestly, it makes us want to ditch foundation for good.

Our favourite thing about Sutton on The Bold Type? Her banter, we'll be honest. But hey, her stunning freckles are a very close second. Fahy is all about embracing them IRL nowadays, too, recently sharing this striking golden hour selfie with them on full display.
