5 ways to be productive in your lunch hour

Yep, you can accomplish a lot in 60-minutes

Women's Health Deputy Features Editor / April 15 2016

We all know the saying “A Sunday well spent brings a week of content.” The same can be said about your lunch break. A productive midday break can tick those to-do’s off your list and even reset your mind and body. We’ve rounded up five of the best uses of your lunch hour.

1

Get checked

You’ve got to find your health baseline if you want to boost it. Enlist a naturopath for a health program tailor-made for you. First visit? Expect to talk medical history, energy levels, sleep quality, toilet visits, emotional wellbeing and diet (plus they may check your nails, skin, tongue and irises). To get the most out of your appointment Blackmores naturopath, Danielle Steedman says, “Be honest, don’t tell us what you think we want to hear.” Visit wellbeingcheck.com.au for a free wellbeing check.

2

Meditate

The latest wellness trend to receive the boutique treatment is meditation. Tag a drop-in class on to your green smoothie run. Check out Centred Meditation in Sydney (packages from $14.50); the Kadampa Meditation Centre in Melbourne (drop-in class $12); or the Australian School of Meditation and Yoga (depends on the class, but some are just a donation), which has branches in SA, QLD, VIC and NSW.

3

See your physio

Any ailments giving you trouble? Score a spot with an osteo, chiro or physio up to two hours before booking using the Vaniday booking app. Like ClassPass but for your wellness and beauty dates, the search engine lets you filter professionals by service, price, location (you are currently able to book a pro in Sydney and Melbourne) or ratings. Solid news if you’re not really the highly organised, ongoing-appointment-in-the-diary type.

4

Go to hydration rehab

Had a few too many cocktails over the weekend? This one’s for you. A quick fix at a Hangover Clinic will help you through real and life hangovers (read: sports dehydration, colds/flus and jetlag) through IV hydration and vitamin drips. (Note: Science is yet to find a hangover cure, or treatment to alleviate shame and regret. We hope they’re at least working on it). On arrival, the clinic doctors will assess the situation and hook you up to a customised 30 to 60-minute treatment. Available in Sydney, with Melbourne and Perth opening this year. This is a one-off kind of treatment, not a regular fix. Prices from $140.

Brighten your smile

Tack the new 10-minute Philips Zoom QuickPro whitening treatment onto your regular dental check up or book in for the two-layer technology exclusive. Unlike previous in-chair options, a quick-dry seal follows the varnish, so you don’t have to stare at the Ken Done paintings on the ceiling while the formula works its magic. Thirty minutes later, brush or wipe off the film to reveal fresh pearl whites (up to four shades whiter). Prices are around $199. Ask your dentist for more details.
