6 best beauty collaborations of 2018

Love your trusty hair straightener but fancy something more colourful and Insta-worthy to dress up your bathroom? Then you’re in luck. Cult hairstyling brand ghd has teamed up with British fashion designer Lulu Guinness as part of ghd’s annual pink collection. The limited edition collection features Lulu’s iconic lip print on the new ghd gold® styler and ghd air® hairdryer, and $20 from the sale of every styler and $10 from the sale of every hairdryer will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

There’s no doubt that Lancôme is known for its timeless and sophisticated packaging, which is why we were so surprised (and excited) to see the French brand’s latest collaboration with American fashion house, Proenza Schouler. Featuring innovative products housed in bright and graphic packaging, the limited edition collection (which launches in October) was designed with colour at the forefront. Two standouts from the collab include the Cushion Highlighter Chroma, a cushion highlighter perfect for creating a fresh and radiant complexion, and the Lip Kajal Duo Chroma, a double-sided applicator featuring a hyrbid lip pencil and ultra-matte lipstick on one end and a satin gloss on the other.

While tweezers, nail shapers and buffing blocks might not traditionally be the most exciting products in your beauty bag, Manicare has made these nail essentials lustworthy. They’ve joined forces with chic Australian clothing label Aje to create designer-decorated accessories, bringing a touch of luxury into your otherwise-mundane tools. Based on the hero prints from Aje’s Autumn/Winter 2018 collection, these limited edition buys are only available until the end of summer.

If we were to ask you who the most influential fashion designer of our time was, there’s a good chance your answer would be Karl Lagerfeld. And now, in addition to his continued work as Creative Director at CHANEL, the illustrious designer has launched a limited edition range with Australian beauty brand ModelCo. Channelling the theme of ‘illuminated beauty,’ the collection includes more than 50 products for the face, eyes and lips as well as accessories, with the packaging of the Lip Lights, Lip Balm and Brush Sets featuring a silhouette of Karl Lagerfeld’s head.

Rather than collaborating in the production stage, Crayola has chosen online clothing, beauty and accessories site, ASOS to exclusively stock their new 58 product-strong collection. With a focus on delivering makeup in bright and brilliant shades, the Crayola Beauty range includes lipsticks, eye palettes, highlighters and bold mascaras all housed in the brand’s classic packaging.

For its first ever lip collaboration, shu uemura has teamed up with Paris-based jewellery designer Yazbukey to overhaul the rouge unlimited supreme matte product range. Working together on not only the concept but the colour palette, too, Yazbukey and shu uemura’s International Artistic Director Kakiyasu Uchiide added nine new lipstick shades and 16 packaging updates with a playful lip motif.
