She seriously knows her stuff when it comes to beauty
Blessed with dark brown locks, brows to die for, big blue eyes, an envious pout, a fit body and long legs that never seem to end, Australian model Elle Morris is a natural beauty that seriously won the genetic lottery - and we’re sure her 126,000 Instagram followers would agree. With over a decade of modelling experience under her belt, fronting beauty campaigns (she’s Braun’s latest beauty ambassador) and appearing in editorial spreads, she’s gained a wealth of beauty knowledge from being on set and backstage.
We recently had the opportunity to interview the Aussie beauty on her favourite products and lessons she’s learnt throughout her career; read on to find out her top beauty secrets.
On her biggest career highlight…
“I have been modelling now for almost 10 years. There have been many highlights so it’s hard to pinpoint one in particular. It’s always exciting to work with amazing photographers and being flown to exotic locations.”
On her secret to looking confident on camera…
“I have always loved being in front of the camera. Of course, when I started modelling there was a lot to learn about posing and facial expressions, so I practiced and the more jobs I booked the more confident I became. Now it’s almost a natural reaction.”
On the most tragic beauty mistake she’s made…
“I think the worst would be my own fake tanning when I was younger, haha. I had some shockers. Thankfully now I have mastered it, phew!”
On her favourite beauty products…
Braun Silk-épil 9 SkinSpa – A five-in-one beauty device that epilates, massages and exfoliates! This is the perfect product for a fake tan user like myself.
Chantecaille Lip Chic in Sari Rose – This is my all-time fave lipstick. It works well for both day and night, plus it makes your lips look fuller and hydrated.
Mecca Cosmetica In A Good Light SPF 30 in Medium - It’s a tinted moisturising sunscreen and leaves your face looking dewy and natural.
Nars Blush in Orgasm - I love blush and this one is quite sheer and illuminating.
Benefit Precisely, My Brow Eyebrow Pencil used with the Gimme Brow + Volumising Eyebrow Gel - It’s a fail-proof combination and gives you the most perfect bushy brows.
On her skin care routine…
“I’m always adding new products into my routine as there is always more to discover!
In the morning, I hop into a hot shower to steam open my pores, then wash my face with Mario Badescu Enzyme Cleansing Gel. When I get out - before I apply my makeup - I’ll apply the Mario Badescu Toner, Cosmedix Eye Genius underneath the eye, Cosmedix Affirm Antioxidant Serum and Embryolisse Lait-Crème Concentré Moisturiser; then my skin is prepped for my makeup.
At night, I remove all makeup with Bioderma Micellar Water, then I double cleanse using Cosmedix Deep Cleansing Oil followed by Cosmedix Purity Clean. About three times a week I apply Cosmedix Pure Enzymes Cranberry Exfoliating Mask, then a serum - either Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate or Cosmedix Serum 16.
For the rest of my body, I exfoliate with the Braun Silk-épil 9 SkinSpa’s deep exfoliation brush, which is six times more effective than a manual scrub alone! The gentle exfoliation brush refines your skin for an irresistibly smooth and silky feeling. When it comes to hair removal, the epilator head removes hair as small as a grain of sand and means I have long-lasting smooth results for up to four weeks. I find products that have multiple treatments in one make it easy to streamline your routine.
All of these products I have found keep my skin from breaking out and [leave it] silky smooth. It’s important to try different brands and find out what works best for you.”
On her beauty icon…
“I have always loved Angelina Jolie. Her feline facial structure, effortless beauty, oh and not to mention those lips!”
On her daytime makeup look…
“My daytime look is quite simple. I use my favourite tinted moisturiser from Mecca (as mentioned above), and conceal any blemishes and cover underneath my eyes with UnCover Up by RMS Beauty. I like to do my brows next using the brow range from Benefit as I feel like they shape your face.
Next, I’ll buff CHANEL Soleil Tan De Chanel along the contours of my face for a healthy glow - it’s a cream bronzer that gives more of a natural finish. I’ll then apply a light powder like Laura Mercier's Translucent Loose Setting Powder, Benefit Cosmetics Roller Mascara and maybe a slight wing using a brown pencil or shadow. I’ll slightly smudge it out, dust my cheeks with Nars Orgasm Blush and add lippie.”
On her nighttime makeup look…
“My nighttime routine is almost the same as my day look, however, if I’m heading to an event I might swap tinted moisturiser for foundation. I like to try new foundations but I love the Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk. I’ll do a darker, smokier eye using chocolate tones or keep the eye simple and apply a red lipstick.”
On the best makeup tip she’s learnt from being backstage…
“I have learned so much about different techniques and products from being on set, hence why I am very comfortable in doing my own makeup.
Prepping the skin for makeup has been a really important one, and also how to have a soft touch with the brushes when applying makeup, so it’s easier to build up without looking too overdone.”
On her workout routine…
“At this time of year, it is harder to find the motivation to step out into the cold so I prefer classes like Reformer Pilates or barre. I like these because I can feel it toning and strengthening my body. I also love taking my dog Billy to the park and chasing him around - sometimes I use the surroundings as an outdoor gym.”
Finding it hard to exercise in winter, too? Here are three ways to stay motivated to workout in the cold.
