4 outrageously expensive celebrity manicures
Diamond digits truly are a girl’s best friend
A standard manicure only lasts a few days, maybe a week if you’re lucky. So, it’s not something you’re likely to splash a lot of cash on, right?
Well, it appears Hollywood has missed this memo, because a number of celebrities are sporting expensive bespoke manicures on the red carpet, with price tags ranging from one month’s rent to a cool one million dollars.
Gigi Hadid
Gigi Hadid - or ‘Gigitron’ as her manicurist Mary Soul referred to her - took to the 2016 Met Gala red carpet with sharp-edged, pure chrome talons costing a total of AUD$2,745. But it wasn’t the shiny silver side that was behind the inflated bill - the custom Kiss Products manicure featured a cluster of crystals on the underside of each nail for extra blink-and-you’ll-miss-it detail.
Kelly Osbourne
Kelly Osbourne is no stranger to high-dollar digits, either. In 2012, the E! TV hostess wore a AUD$340k black diamond Azature manicure on the Emmy Awards red carpet, which caused an uproar among fans who deemed the beauty statement excessive and wasteful.
Not phased by the comments, Kelly then went on to wear a AUD$1.4 million dollar manicure the next year, which was created using Azature’s white diamond nail polish. This time, though, her over-priced manicure was all for a good cause. If a bottle of the white diamond lacquer was sold during the event, a large amount of cash was being donated to The Sharon Osbourne Colon Cancer Foundation. (Phew!)
Rita Ora
In 2014, Rita Ora took manicures to new heights at the MTV Video Music Awards by wearing tiny diamond spiders and ruby bows on her digits. Created by manicurist Barbara Windsor using Azature Black Diamond Nail Lacquer, the total beauty bill was a huge AUD$77k.
Beyoncé
And not to be outshone by anyone - ever - Beyoncé has been known to take the diamond manicure one step further by donning Bijules rings made of Austrian crystals on each nail, which cost around AUD$2,000 each. Ahh, to be Queen Bey!

Cherie is somewhat of a digital dinosaur, having kick-started her beauty writing career back in 2009 at PRIMPED alongside industry expert Zoë Foster Blake. Since then, her words have appeared online and on paper for BEAUTYcrew, POPSUGAR, beautyheaven, New Idea, and Fitness First, while her marketing know-how has helped brands such as L'Oréal Paris, The Body Shop, A’kin, and Dr. LeWinn’s add a journalistic flair to their digital content. She is a vocal advocate for (physical) sunscreen, is rather fond of a bold lip, and is utterly terrible at styling hair.
