What happens when you apply 100 layers of foundation
In the biggest faux pas to layers since socks and sandals, Swedish beauty blogger Josefin Lillakas, known to her YouTube fans as Jeely, has undertaken and filmed an insane experiment with foundation. As a follow-up to her 100 Coats of Mascara video, which is as full-on as it sounds, Jeely has decided to apply 100 layers of shiny foundation to her face.
Like Mariya Lyubashevskaya, the beauty blogger who strobed her whole face using highlighting products, Jeely has taken her beauty tools a few steps further than the average mishap. It doesn’t take her more than 20 layers to be reminiscent of the Wizard of Oz’s Tin Man. Jeely can see the humour in her experiment. “My skin is so good and it’s so flawless, I don’t have any imperfections at all,” she says, mockingly.
Even at layer 40, she forgoes a necessary beauty step saying, “You don’t need to blend the foundation with your neck.” Even though she’s already taken three hours to apply her foundation, she’s got a point with her lack of neck-blending when she says, “Ain’t nobody got time for that.”
In between every 10-layer milestone, she blow-dries her face to set the dewiness. At layer 80, she finally admits she has too many layers, but she continues to add foundation with a beautyblender, until layer 100 when we hear a question from Jeely that we’ve all been wondering. “What am I doing with my life? I have too much free time,” she says. Agreed.
We’re happy to see the last minute of Jeely’s video as she removes the caked-on layers from her complexion, but we’ve got our eyes peeled for her next beauty test. It’s like a car crash – you know you shouldn’t look but you can’t help but watch. We highly recommend watching the video in full, which you can do on Jeely's YouTube channel.
