The fresh haircut and colour trends to try this spring
Spring has officially sprung folks, and after a season spent inside we’re ready to finally freshen up our lives and our hair.
In the last few weeks alone we’ve added the silk scarf and hair tan trend to our seasonal to-do list, and made our eyes water sniffing spring perfume samples. Seriously, it’s a problem.
Jaye Edwards, EdwardsAndCo Owner, Founder and Colourist, has done his civic duty and educated us all on what to expect from 2022’s spring and summer hair trends. This is what you need to know…

High Textured Bob
“A bob doesn’t always have to be short and sleek,” says Edwards. “This summer we’re going to see clients opting for the above-the-shoulder chop, enhanced with texture and choppy layers.”
“This lived-in look offers a playful alternative to the typically super structured style, and it also adds a tonne of dimension to curls.”

Bardot Bangs
“Bardot bangs are a timeless and flirty style,” says Edwards. “Characterised by its effortless and unkempt look, it features curtain bangs, shorter at the front and longer through the temples. This is a great way to bring some character to simple up styles during the summer months.”

Shullets
“The shullet is a modern take on the mullet, which has exploded in popularity over the past few years,” Edwards explains. “The beauty of the shullet is that it is not simply a definitive cut; it’s a spectrum, ranging from extreme, super short on top and long at the back, to a more modern interpretation, with choppy layers creating the illusion or silhouette of the style, without going full Billy Ray.”

Strawberry Brunette
“Strawberry brunette is having a real moment, following copper’s explosion onto the scene,” says Edwards. “Just like strawberry blonde, strawberry brunette covers various shades of brunette that are spiked with a little coppery-red tone.”
“This is a great alternative for brunettes who want to opt for a more bold look without going lighter.”

Strawberry Blonde
“Peachy, copper and strawberry tones are a great way to bring vibrancy back to natural coppers, while still maintaining a natural look,” says the EdwardsAndCo founder. “It’s also a great way to warm up your blonde tones, ready for the hot months ahead.”

‘90s Blonde
“An Instagram and Tiktok favourite, the ‘90s blonde is back in a big way. ‘90s blonde is a bold, golden blonde that’s very buttery — think Pam Anderson in Baywatch,” says Edwards. “To keep it free from any yellow or ash tones, this look is going to require regular glosses and some quality products for at-home maintenance.”

Bronze Balayage
“This shade is great for brunettes looking for a low maintenance way to lighten things up,” Edwards suggests. “Defined by its natural and lived-in vibe, this look is effortless. It's the perfect way to add a pop of bronze to your natural colour, giving a stunning sun-kissed feel.”

These aren’t the only trends making waves as the weather warms up. The jellyfish haircut trend is making the butterfly haircut look like childsplay.
