While Selena Gomez stunned in bright pink eyeshadow at the Met Gala, Vanessa Hudgens’ recent red carpet makeup from the Billboard Music Awards proves how soft, feminine and totally wearable the look can be in everyday life. Here’s how to make pink eyeshadow work for you.

1

Find the right shade

Finding the perfect hue of pink is important. Think not too bright for an everyday grown-up take. You want to give your lids a soft wash of colour without bringing out any redness in your complexion. Her makeup artist, Patrick Ta credits Elizabeth Arden Eyeshadow Trio in Oh So Pink. These shades will create the perfect base if you want to build with some eye-catching shimmer.

Highlight with shimmer

To amp up your pink shade, make like Vanessa and add a pearly sheen to the inner corners to make your eyes pop. You can also add a darker shade of shimmer under your lower lash line and a light dusting on your lids for more of a statement. Ta used Elizabeth Arden Eyeshadow Trio in You Had Me At Merlot, for both the pearly inner corner and the darker, more dramatic shade.

Add a natural flush to your cheeks

Ensuring any redness is concealed is important when wearing pink on your eyes as the two tones can sometimes bring out the worst in each other. In saying this, a sweep of blush on your cheeks will help bring out your eyes and give your face a healthy glow – just make sure you opt for a pink nude tone that looks natural. Try Estee Lauder Pure Colour Blush in Pink Ingenue.
