Urban Decay’s new products will change the way you use primer
Did someone say multi-priming?
When it comes to new beauty launches, it’s easy to become overwhelmed with the sheer volume of new products hitting the shelves every day. Just in the past few months we’ve had multiple Kylie Cosmetics releases, two new Urban Decay Naked palettes, an Anastasia Beverly Hills x Mario Dedivanovic neutral eyeshadow palette (Kim Kardashian-approved, of course!) and seven eyeshadow palettes created through a collaboration with Smashbox and Shay Mitchell!
While it’s probably best for the sake of our wallets to not get caught up in the launch of any more new products we just have to get our hands on, we’d also hate to deprive ourselves of anything that is going to change our makeup routine for the better. And that’s exactly what could be on the cards following the announcement from Urban Decay about their latest product launch. Early next year the brand is set to release five facial primers, which are targeted to specific skin concerns.
The primers include Urban Defense Complexion Primer, which essentially acts as a clear sunscreen with SPF 30 while also giving you a smooth pre-makeup base, Bright & Tight Complexion Primer to add radiance and hydrate, a colour correcting formula that blurs and evens the skin tone, the De-Slick Complexion Primer that combines a natural clay derivative called veegum with silica to absorb oil as and when it’s produced, and the Optical Illusion Primer that works to create a soft focus effect on the skin whereby the complexion is brightened and imperfections are blurred –we’re definitely most excited about this one!
The best thing about this new release is that you don’t have to substitute the benefits of one primer to reap the rewards of another. This is because all five products can be used in a manner similar to that of multi-masking. For example, multi-priming could involve applying the Urban Defense Complexion Primer all over the skin, the oil tackling primer across the T-zone and the radiance enhancing primer over the high-points of the face for a protected and radiant complexion that remains so all day.
For now we only have news of the primers being released in the US, however the process of multi-priming isn’t restricted to Urban Decay products. Any number of primers with specific skin functions can be used to create the perfect base to enable a flawless and long-lasting makeup application. Try usung BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector for an all-over veil of luminosity, Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer to soothe and hydrate any dry patches and Eve Lom Perfect Matte Primer to absorb excess oil production throughout the day.
Once you’ve got your primer sorted, the last thing you want to do is ruin all your hard work by making this foundation mistake.
