3 of the hottest haircuts to get this spring

The Hottest Haircuts This Spring

Say hello to long, choppy layers

Beauty Crew Beauty Editor / September 25 2018

There’s no better excuse than the start of a new season to shake up your style, especially with a haircut that’s tried and tested on the red carpet by the hottest celebrities, such as Cara Delevingne, Dakota Johnson and Georgia Fowler. John Pulitano, Creative Director for Headcase Hair and Goldwell Platform Artist, divulged to us the hairstyles set to be most-requested at salons this spring.

The grown-out pixie cut

Cara, Michelle and Kate all have something in common - they’re rocking the latest cool-girl style that seriously oozes attitude. The grown-out pixie cut is a no-brainer hairstyle, especially with the warmer weather coming up. “I’m loving the versatility in this short cut when it is grown out,” says Pulitano. “This soft piecey hairstyle can be worn in so many different ways.”

Michelle Williams

Kate Hudson

Who this suits: This hairstyle is best suited to those with an oval or heart-shape face and small to medium body frames. Plus, “I think you could customise it to suit quite a few age groups - from young to those in their 50s.”

The upkeep: The great thing about this hairstyle is that it’s totally low-maintenance. “On the right hair type, you just need a quick blast with the hair dryer and a good spray of product (such as a texturising spray or wax spray), and you are ready to go.” Try Evo Shebang-A-Bang Dry Spray Wax.

Soft layers

The hottest iteration of ‘flowing hair’ is a style that boasts soft layers, especially around the face. “I’m loving the ‘70s-inspired bangs on longer hair this season, accompanied with soft longer layers to accentuate the movement in the hair,” says Pulitano.

Alexa Chung

Suki Waterhouse

Dakota Johnson

Who this suits: “This style is complementary to all face shapes and is totally adaptable. It can also suit all ages.”

The upkeep: Be warned, this is a hairstyle that demands more attention than just brushing it through with a comb. “This style requires a bit more maintenance, like with a blow-dry or a tong. My absolute favourite product for this look is the Goldwell Kerasilk Reconstruct Regenerating Blowdry Spray for an amazing blow-dry that lasts and lasts.”

Curly shaggy bangs

For those with natural texture in their hair, your go-to style should be a shaggy fringe, like the ones Georgia, Zendaya and Roberta are frequently seen wearing. The style looks effortless, and is surprisingly easy to maintain.

Roberta Pecoraro

Who this suits: This hairstyle is best suited to those with naturally curly or wavy hair, and people with oval, heart or rectangular face shapes.

The upkeep: Like the grown-out pixie cut, this style is low-maintenance. “Just remember to use a diffuser when drying your hair, and then ruffle the hair once dry to increase texture,” explains Pulitano. To define your waves or curls, apply a small amount of Oribe Curl Shaping Mousse into damp hair before drying.

Say goodbye to frizz with these three styling solutions for curly hair.
