Biodegradable glitter is now a thing and we couldn’t be happier
Here are some of our faves
With Splendour in the Grass coming up next month, we’ve been in full festival preparation mode.
And there’s no denying that glitter is a firm favourite of basically every festival goer.
A little glitter glams up an otherwise-simple festival outfit and a careful under-eye application will tactically hide dark circles. You can even use glitter to disguise unwashed roots – and create an attention-grabbing hairstyle at the same time. The uses are endless.
But while your little vial of sparkling fun may seem innocent enough, traditional glitter is more often than not made from tiny pieces of polyethylene, which is unfortunately the same type of plastic single-use supermarket bags are made from.
And when you’re done dancing ‘til dawn, these little pieces of plastic inevitably end up being washed down the drain, wreaking havoc on our waterways and oceans when ingested by marine life or embedding themselves in sea plants.
Yeah, not good.
So naturally, we’ve been on the hunt for an environmentally-friendly option. After all, it’s 2019 and single-use plastic is a total faux pas.
And boy have we come up with the goods.
Whether you’re heading to a festival, gig or are simply after for an extra-fun look for a night out, you’ll want to check out these biodegradable glitters.
