Tate McRae just introduced us to the world’s best bronzer hack
And how to master mirror-free six-minute makeup
Stepping onto the scene as one of this generation’s pop girlies, Tate McRae is absolutely killing the music-making game. Often hailed as this era’s Britney Spears, it’s not just her voice and dancing skills that have captured an audience - it’s her signature cool-girl look.
This leaves us all wondering; what's the secret behind the pop star's flawless makeup? Turns out a healthy dose of bronzing powder can do wonders.
In a recent video with Vogue, she revealed just how she accomplishes her everyday glam which, remarkably, she can execute in a mere six minutes, even while on a bustling tour bus without a mirror in sight.
Tate McRae's everyday makeup routine
Tate McRae's makeup routine is a masterclass in efficiency. Starting with a canvas of clean, hydrated skin, it’s unsurprising that McRae uses the celeb-loved skin care range from Augustinus Bader. After moisturising and applying SPF, the real fun starts.
To inject some colour into her face, McRae applies the viral Drunk Elephant D-Bronzi drops ($60 at MECCA), going over the top with a very light skin tint, the Chanel Les Beiges Water Fresh Tint ($110 at Myer).
Then applying the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer ($51 at MECCA), she takes her most-used product, the Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Bronzer ($84 at Charlotte Tilbury) and dusts it under her cheekbones and across her forehead.
Following up with some eye makeup and liquid liner (incorporating her signature bronze shade), however, she takes her beloved powder to achieve a totally-genius faux sun-kissed glow. In place of blush, McRae takes her bronzer across the bridge of her nose and across the tops of her cheeks. As instructed by her makeup artist, the subtle touch gives the appearance of a natural bronze, as opposed to a red-tinted blush.
Cementing her everyday makeup look in place is the addition of fake freckles. No matter the look or amount of glam, the 20-year-old singer says that faux freckles immediately soften up a look. Using the FreckXL ($45.50 at Beauty Bay) she taps the product in for the ultimate natural-looking base. If we can achieve the sun-kissed look sans skin damage, we’re here for it!
