Silver French nails are the trend to try for holiday season and beyond
The silly season has set in, and so naturally our nails are basically begging for a bit of glitz. Here’s the twist though: gold isn’t your only option. We’re calling it now: this is the season of silver.
From frosty takes to French tips, this is one of the biggest nail trends co-signed by not only Rihanna but also Kylie Jenner and even Margot Robbie. And you best bet you’ll be seeing these nails everywhere this season.
Because it's finally time for gold to step aside and let silver reign supreme with this cool-toned trend. And you’ll be getting bonus points if you can blend silver and French tip nails (because they’re back baby) together.
So, how will you let your silver side shine? Let’s check out all the looks and how you can recreate them at home (or ask for them at the salon)…
Silver Nails
Silver French Tip Nails
Yep, it’s official, the nail divisive nail trend is officially back (although did it ever actually go away?). Whether you’re a micro French kinda nail-lover, you want to hit the mob wife aesthetic hard with a deep, Jersey style French tip, or you long to play the middle, a little line of French is totally trending.
So, why not mix trends? French and silver have always paired well together in our opinion…
It’s glossy, it’s French and you can do it at home. Yep, no need to pay the big bucks and see yourself off to a salon. This inspo gives us the play by play of how to do it at home. All you need is a steady hand and a trusty bottle of Essie Nail Polish in ‘Après Chic’ ($15.67 at Amazon Australia).
It’s official, Mother has spoken, and she is very on board with the silver nail trend. In fact this is the second (more on the iconic first in a min) shimmer silver look she’s worn. Signing autographs outside her hotel, the star’s glistening glittery almond-shaped (IYKYK) French mani caught our keen eyes.
Silver Chrome French Tip
Not even Barbie herself could escape the dualling trends, with nail artist Tom Bachik curating a clean (yet fun) mani to match 1992 Earring Magic Barbie’s aesthetic. This silver shade sure set Robbie apart on the red carpet.
Silver Chrome Nails
King Kylie (Jenner) is one of the trend setters we’ll follow blindly into any aesthetic. Give us a promo shot with an unbelievably molten silver chrome nail look and we’ll be taking it as gospel. Like Rihanna, Jenner is on the silver trend and trialling all new and different spins on it. In a ‘get in quick before it goes’ Instagram story, the star showed off a glazey/chromy silver oyster mani and we desperately need more deets on the sitch.
While the chrome fad might’ve died down, get ready for a revival. But this time around you can nab that look for a bargain with this DIY close match, Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in ‘Silver Storm’ ($4.69 (usually $7.95) from Chemist Warehouse). Or if you’re all about the commitment (and the longwearing capabilities) Esmio have their very own at home chrome powder ($13 at Esmio). Get ready to stare at yourself in your mirror nails all day long.
Silver Glazed Nails
While we might have one Mrs. Hailey Bieber to thank for the glazed donut nail trend, the latest glazed mani that caught the world's attention graced the nails of Rihanna herself. Told you we’d circle back. Launching her newest foundation, Rihanna took the classic French tip nail and transformed it. Because when you’re a superstar one trend isn’t enough. You’ve got to do a trend forming blend of three. Known as our very own holy trinity: French, glazed and silver. It’s the trifecta you’re not going to want to miss out on. Plus, she’s so real for not knowing nail shapes (because what even is a coffin anyways?).
We’ve already clicked pay on our carts and we’ll be patiently waiting by the door for the order to ship. You’re going to want to book in your nail appointments ASAP.
