Silk, both synonymous with luxury and able to protect our precious hair against damage as we toss and turn during sleep, serves as the ultimate overnight fabric companion.
However, while our infatuation with silky soft pillowcases runs deep, those of us blessed with bountiful curls or particularly thick tresses often still require a little something extra to ensure our texture remains in-tact and tangle-free into the A.M.
BAZAAR spoke to Fiona Stewart, founder of celebrity-approved silk haircare brand Slip to find out why silk hair wraps could be the solution to protecting our strands while we sleep.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF CHOOSING A SILK OPTION OVER A COTTON ONE?
HOW SHOULD YOU PREP YOUR HAIR BEFORE PUTTING ON YOUR SILK TURBAN?
"Everyone's [hair wrap] routine is different depending on their hair," Stewart shares. "We have some customers who use a silk scrunchie and do a 'pineapple [ponytail]' before putting on their [wrap], and then others who have braids [or other styles that equally as susceptible to disarranging throughout the night that] they sleep in."
As for whether you can sweep freshly washed hair into your wrap, Stewart maintains that damp hair is no friend to silk. "Only when dry, please!" she says.
