I tried Rose Inc’s new skin-illuminating tinted serum on my quest for glass skin
I think I just found my go-to foundation for winter
As a beauty writer, whenever I hear that a celebrity is launching their own brand (be it skin care, makeup or a line of eco-friendly tanning products), a part of me dies inside.
The exception to this rule? Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s Rose Inc.
Because aside from a highly successful career in modelling, Huntington-Whiteley also possesses the same perverse obsession I do for beauty.
As well as creating a dialogue with makeup artists, Huntington-Whitely has also managed to leverage Rose Inc as a curated brand of thoughtfully-selected skin care and makeup.
The initial launch featured a handful of products the model actually uses in her own routine; a cream blush, a concealer with buildable coverage, a brow gel for fluffy arches, a smudgeable lip colour, and a slew of skin care products that target acne-prone skin.
As for the second launch, which hits shelves this month, Rose Inc added an exfoliating cleanser and a hydrating moisturiser to its skin care lineup.
The thing that had me the most excited though? A lightweight skin tint and angled stippling foundation brush that could be used in symbiosis for an illuminated and perfected complexion.
Needless to say, I had to try the pair ASAP…
The product details
Introducing: Rose Inc Skin Enhance Luminous Tinted Serum ($73 at MECCA).
This dual-phase formula contains beads of microencapsulated pigment that are suspended in a hyaluronic acid-based hydrating serum. These two elements blend together upon application to help blur imperfections, unifying and illuminating the complexion in one hit.
Rose Inc Skin Enhance Luminous Tinted Serum review
I was lucky enough to be sent the Rose Inc Skin Enhance Luminous Tinted Serum weeks before its Australian release, so I tried the skin tint in multiple ways.
I initially used the Rose Inc Number 3 Foundation Brush ($54 at MECCA) to apply the tint and loved it.
The brush is a well thought-out makeup tool and effortlessly buffs in product without leaving streaks all over my face.
But I also applied the bi-phase formula with my hands, and a few different iterations of foundation brushes – all with great success.
It’s hard to mess up the application of this stuff though, its lightweight formula is inherently forgiving and doesn’t cling to texture.
The genius continues with the fact that a little goes a long way. I got coverage, hydration and a healthy boost of radiance with just a pump or two of the product buffed into my skin.
The tinted serum also plays well with other products. My concealer and cream blush blended seamlessly into my base, my liquid highlighter melted into the illuminating formula, and my setting powder didn’t disrupt the situation either.
The final verdict
As far as complexion products go, this sheen of an illuminating skin tint has really won me over.
I love the fact that I can’t feel it on my skin, and that the lightweight formula remains forgiving throughout the day, lessening the potential for creasing and cracking come the afternoon.
The way it melds into the rest of my routine flawlessly and bridges the gap between my skin care and makeup is also a blessing in disguise.
I think I just found my new go-to winter foundation.
