Rimmel London Moisture Renew Lipstick

After reading the November article titled “The Lipstick Shade Every Woman Should Own” I immediately bought 3 of the suggested shades as pinky-mauve nude is my preferred shade but the perfect one has so far eluded me, until now.  This Rimmel lipstick (shade 180 Vintage Pink) was one of those featured in the article and I am in love, it’s so so pretty!  It is a gorgeous mauvey-pink nude with an emphasis on the mauve, just what I was after, not too pink and not too mauve, just right! It comes in a standard tube with a purple plastic cap that snaps securely in place, so no worries about it coming off your handbag and getting ruined.  It has a floral-fruity scent and a mild taste.  It has the added benefits of SPF 20 and vitamins A, C and E.   It simply glides across the lips and once on and blotted it does not feather or smudge. If I were to criticize I wish it would last longer.  I realize that that the trade-off for creamy moisturising lipsticks is shorter longevity and the shade is so lovely that I am not complaining too much. It lasts for a few hours for me.  Initially it has a satin finish and is very creamy, but it settles into a demi-matte finish and gives some stain to the lips which is great because I don’t feel the need to touch up as often as some colour remains.  It doesn’t wear in a patchy manner, it is even across the whole lip. To increase the longevity I usually dust a little translucent powder over it or use a lipstick sealer.  Truly a beautiful shade and I thank Beauty Crew for alerting me to it!

Great colour, really bright, smooth  and moisturising. BUT, the lipstick transferred everywhere, ended up on my chin, cheek, hands and clothes. Even a lip liner didn't help keep it in place. Disappointing as I loved the colour and the sheen on it. Pros: Great pigment Smooth No bad smell or taste Moisturising  Cons:  Lots of transfer Doesn't stay in place

This product is a combination of two things I love - vibrant, vivid lip colour as well as the nourishing moisture of a lipbalm! If you have ever had or intensely dislike (as I do) chapped or visibly dry lips then this is an ideal lipstick to try, it nourishes your lips while you wear it and has a beautifully even glossy finish, the vivid glossy pigment of the colour stays put for about 6 hours and almost lightly stains your lips. The packaging is sleek & pretty and very easy to use, but I think what I like most is that you don't need to pre-moisturise your lips with a balm before applying this lipstick, everything you need for your lips for the day is in the tube! This product is my first choice for when I want bright red lips, the brightness of the colour is somehow enhanced by the moisturising shine, a great hybrid between colour & gloss. It is also extremely reasonably priced, after I tried my first tube & loved the effect of the moisturising formula I actually went out & bought three more tubes in different shades, it has certainly broadened my lipstick colour/shade variety as I felt safer trying newer/brighter shades with the complimentary effect of their formula. Well done Rimmel, five stars for this one!
