L’Oréal Paris Elvive Colour Protect Shampoo

I just recently had my hair coloured again and decided to start using a shampoo that helps protect the colour. I would normally just use any shampoo even when my hair is coloured but now I can see why they have a specific one for coloured hair! I used this in conjunction with same conditioner and found that my colour extended to last almost 3 months instead of around 2 months or so like normal so was happy with that! Kept the colour longer and still looking fresh and vibrant.

Perfect timing is what it was the moment I received a trial for the L’Oreal Elvive Colour Protect range. All to complement each other; the shampoo, conditioner and protecting conditioning spray. You see, I had just cut off the long, damaged ombre trend I had once loved so much and coloured my hair back to its raven hue. This is my moment to shine, literally. Of course when you colour your hair it looks shiny and healthy and glamorous but as the weeks go by, hair just doesn’t continue to have that “just coloured look” and being so dark it needs that “shining moment” always. I was in luck, my hair was needing protection, continual shine and awesomeness. The sleek, red, flip-top bottle of the shampoo stands upright and used from the top, whereas the conditioner is flip-top base down, my guess to minimise confusion in the dark? This superb foaming formula is brilliant for not only eliminating dirt, grime, hairspray, sweat etc effectively but also by protecting the hair not only from pollution but also from the number one damaging element…the sun, with UVA and UVB filters, the perfect protection from the harsh NQ location in which I reside. Having used this range for 2 weeks now I can honestly say there is beautiful shine/radiance, softness, depth to my colour, but seriously this all does happen from the first time you use these products. Not only is the shampoo a hero for the above traits but I have to say that the scent is absolutely beautiful and fresh with a touch of sensual, just like the conditioner and conditioning spray. My daughters even comment on how beautiful my hair smells (great opportunity to get heaps of hugs – it’s all in the hair!). A little goes a very long way therefore its great value for money.

Earlier this year, I used a loreal ombré hair dye kit, which worked beautifully, but that's a review for another day, so I needed colour care shampoo to maintain my beautiful new colour. That's where elvive colour care shampoo (and conditioner) comes in. I like be the red bottle and getting change from $10, always a bonus. It smells just divine, like all loreal products do, and it was nice and thick and creamy, just what I want from my shampoo, lathered nicely but not too much, so it felt quite luxurious for a supermarket shampoo. When my hair dried, it was soft, shiny, glossy and knot free, and best of all, my colour was radiant and bright and protected. It's been a couple of months now, and my hair still looks like I coloured it just yesterday, brand new, it just keeps looking better and better after every wash. If you have natural or dyed coloured hair and are looking for a shampoo and conditioner to protect your colour wash after wash, month after month, with change from $10, this is the one for you. I love it, 5 stars out of 5 yet again loreal. Thank you for making me feel totally worth it time after time after time...

I absolutely love this shampoo for my hair type. I must have bought 20 bottles of this over the years. Even now, when I am growing my colour out, I still return to this shampoo. I have tried a few others in this range by L'Oreal and I don't like any as much. I think this really suits those who have a tendency to an oily scalp. My hair is fine but I have a reasonable amount of it and after a day my roots will get oily. This shampoo is gorgeous: thick, creamy with the most divine fragrance. But don't be fooled - this is a hard-working cleanser, yet it doesn't seem to strip my hair. I am left with clean, well balanced, shiny hair. The matching conditioner is excellent too. Holy Grail product for me.

This shampoo is great for maintaining your hair colour and also contains UVA and UVB filters to help protect and maintain your hair colour.  The shampoo is white, thick and creamy with  a slight floral scent. Great value for money and it's often on sale for half price making it even more of a bargain.  I use this in conjunction with the conditioner.
