For great skin

I've been using La Roche-Posay MELA B3 Niacinamide Serum alongside my tretinoin routine, and I’m really impressed! This serum has a lightweight texture that absorbs quickly without feeling greasy. It helps to brighten my skin and evens out my complexion, which is great for my post-acne marks. I’ve noticed a reduction in redness, too. Plus, it doesn’t irritate my skin, which can be a concern with tretinoin. Overall, it’s a fantastic addition to my skincare regimen for a smoother, healthier glow! Highly recommend!

It works!

I started using La Roche-Posay Mela B3 Serum as directed, morning and night. I didn't notice any strong scent and the serum was easy to apply across dark sun spots. I started noticing improvements on the sun spots a couple of weeks into using the serum. Some dark sun spots were fading and some were fading in particular spots. I felt that after several weeks the effects were less noticeable. It was a much slower process in the weeks that followed. I think for smaller/lighter sun spots, this is a great product. For larger and darker spots, some patience will be required. Definitely a better alternative to having any invasive procedures.

Great for skin-health!

I was so excited to trial the new La Roche-Posay Mela B3 Niacinamide Serum as I’ve been struggling with hyperpigmentation + dark spots on my skin – the claims of this serum sounded like everything I needed! I must first preface my review by outlining that I have a tanned complexion, and the hyperpigmentation + dark spots on my face have been there for over a year now. After the 12-week trial period and using this serum morning and night, unfortunately it didn’t fade any of my hyperpigmentation and dark spots. I feel that my darker skin tone and how long I’ve had the hyperpigmentation + dark spots might not be the right combo for this serum to work its magic. In saying this however, I am still happy to give the Mela B3 Niacinamide Serum 4 stars as I am happy with the other results I received from using this - my skin definitely feels healthier! Throughout the trial period, I had a few hormonal breakouts and this serum helped in preventing post-pimple dark spots from appearing on my face – something that I’m usually left with for weeks after a breakout. The trial period was also right across the winter season and this serum really did strengthen my skin’s moisture barrier. I didn’t experience any dryness or itchiness on my face that I’m usually prone to during the cold season. I also really like the gel-serum texture as it feels light on the skin, spreads across the face and neck easily, and sinks in nicely without any sticky residue. Although I do feel slightly disappointed that the serum didn’t fade the specific hyperpigmentation + dark spots I was hoping for it to target 12 weeks ago, I am still happy with the overall skin-health results.

Effective, non-irritating brightening formula

This is a super neat multi-active serum that is in my experience gentle enough for daily use. I used this serum twice a day, incorporated into my skincare routine after hyaluronic acid lotion and prior to any other actives and moisturising agents. I found the texture pleasant and spread well across the skin in spite of appearing a little thick. The dropper seemed a little fussy, sometimes picking up less product than needed to cover my full face even when the bottle was full - a small inconvenience but worth noting at the price point. The serum absorbs quickly and I didn’t experience any pilling with other skincare products or under makeup. I followed it with jojoba oil and moisturiser, with the addition of The Ordinary’s salicylic acid serum on alternate days. My skin has a tendency towards dryness and flaking, particularly around my chin and can be prone to sensitivity in these drier areas, something I’ve noticed when using other niacinamide based products in the past which have caused a mild stinging/burning sensation. I didn’t notice any increase in dryness or unpleasant sensations indicative of irritation, even as the weather cooled and my skin became a little thirstier! This being said, I didn’t notice an improvement to hydration from using the serum, but I attribute this to my skin type and the existence of multiple hydration focussed products in my existing routine. For my purposes, this serum’s contribution to my routine would be the targeting of hyperpigmentation rather than a step I rely on for hydration. For this purpose, I found the serum to be effective at fading recent hyperpigmentation spots, particularly on my forehead and chin, and felt that new breakouts faded faster where usually I would expect the hyperpigmentation to stick around. Would I buy this product again? Generally, I tend to opt for products with a single active ingredient so I can more easily vary my routine based on my skins needs and sensitivities at a given time. The inclusion of exfoliating ingredients (LHA, retinyl palmitate) alongside the specifically brightening ingredients (niacinamide and the patented active molecule Melasyl) combined with the higher price point does give me pause. I’ll definitely be finishing out the remaining product and am tempted to re-buy but am not 100% sure it fits into my routine and skincare approach. This being said, the patented ingredient is super intriguing to me and I’d love to do some more research into this - this ingredient’s inclusion combined with the ease with which the product was incorporated into my routine alongside other exfoliants without irritation does make it super tempting. Presuming the higher price point is accessible, I would 100% recommend this product for those with sensitive skin looking for a well-rounded brightening product, perhaps as the sole active in a simple routine, in alternation with other exfoliants or for someone who is beginning to establish a routine and not interested in undertaking a dozen different steps.

Great Product

First impressions of the serum was that applicator does not enough product for me I used two squeezes per application to do my face and neck. I do like a light fragrance to my serums and the smell of this serum was a little underwhelming - it does not smell bad or delightful just in between. In saying this on days where I used this product my skin did feel quite hydrated (although I do have combination/ oily skin rather than dry) and it sat well under my moisturiser and it didnt have a sticky residue which is a pet peeve for me. I don't have enough pigmentation to notice a huge difference I love La Roche Posay products and would continue to use this one to hydrate and brighten skin.

Goodbye pigmentation

This was such a fun introduction to my skincare routine that I didn't know I needed! I'm a big La Roche-Posay fan as well so always lean towards their products. Not only did I see a difference in hydration in my overall complexion but this product almost blemished some of my darker pigmentation spots I have on my cheeks from sun exposure. I will warn you, you won't see results with this unless you really put in the hours. After 3 months of introducing this into my routine, I must say it was 100% worth it. I'm super impressed by this product and would highly recommend to anyone who currently struggles with dark spots, pigmentation or really dry skin.

Did the job

I was really looking forward to trialling this serum as I have stubborn pigmentation and sun spots on my face. After the 12 week trial period I had noticed my areas of concerns had lightened but it didn't completely get rid of the pigmentation which I also didn't expect it to either. I can see the product overall helped smooth and reduce my skin marks and assist prevent any new ones from developing. I applied the serum both morning and evening in replace of my Vit C, and it was easy to incorporate and then apply my makeup over for the day ahead. My skin post trial looks brighter, less dark spots and more clear. I would recommend to anyone wanting to reduce dark spots.

Pleasant addition to daily routine

Before I go into the review I want to say that this product is of high price point compared to similar products on the market. What I enjoyed about the serum was; That the packaging allows it to go seamlessly on your face, although the applicator doesn’t collect a lot for one application you have to use it twice to do your face and neck. The smell and colour is pleasant. I did find that it brightened my skin and reduced darkness especially around my nose and cheeks What I didn’t enjoy; Once the product settles on your skin it kind of peels away so if you put it on before make up, you will look scaly by the end of the day, I found around my eyes and jawline is where it would start to collect and peel. I am unsure if it was user error or a reaction with my other skincare but it was like collecting dead skins everyday.

Works with time

Thank you Beautycrew and La Roche Posay for the opportunity to try this serum. I was excited to try this as I have some acne scarring, as well as light pigmentation due to sun exposure. First of all, it has the same look as the other La Roche serums with the dropper applicator. The applicator works well and dispenses correct amount of product. The serum itself is thick, but glides on the skin quite easily and not an awful amount of product is required to cover the entire face. The first thing I noticed was the smell of the serum, which I personally did not like it’s not very bad, but not a nice smelling serum either. In the time I have been using it. I have definitely noticed a slight improvement in pigmentation. Obviously, I didn’t expect to fully get rid of my pigmentation, but with time, it definitely works. Pricewise it is on the steeper side, especially for a brand that you can buy at the chemist, but you do get a decent amount of product. It does feel hydrating when you apply it and leaves the skin with a slight glow. Overall happy with the product.

Didn’t work for me.

As a woman in early 30s I have all kinds of pigmentation, acne scars, sun damage, age spots. My pigmentation is extremely stubborn and a serum has never been able to assist. I was really happy to try it as I use La Roche-Posay sunscreen and I absolutely love it. Unfortunately this product didn’t work for me at all. First few days it was alright then I started to get dry and itchy skin, I started using more and more moisturiser reduced the usage to once a day but still. I could see a slight change in my pigmentation and my skin became brighter but god the itchy feeling on face was a no for me. It smells great and absorbed into my skin beautifully. It felt like a butter cream to put on. O really love La Roche-Posays products and I buy myself too but I guess it was not made for my skin. I would still recommend to other people who would like to give it a try and it might work for them. But definitely I am not buying for myself.

Very light weight and visibly reduced melasma.

I had melasma and hyperpigmentation after my pregnancy. This Mela B has visibly reduced the hyperpigmentation and melasma. I used it for almost 12 weeks every morning and evening. I paired it with sunscreen everyday and retinol every evening. It works like a magic when paired with actives. Today I am more confident to walk round with no make up. I have recommended to my closed ones as well. This is one of my favourite these days. It has got very mild fragrance, very light weight. It gets absorbed into the skin very quickly. It leaves my skin plumed and soft. Very happy with the product. Thank you beauty crew for sending an amazing product.

Brighter skin lighter spots

This product comes in a glass packing and dispencer also. The serum has a slightly thick consistency and but absorbs to skin quickly. The seum has a mild fragrance that is not overpowering. I have used the serum for continuously 12 weeks along with a sunscreen and these are the results. My skin felt smoother than before. My dark spots are lighter now and I have noticed that after continuous use, the acne that used to cause dark blemishes do not cause dark blemishes and the blemishes dissappear faster. My skin is brighter than before. I cant comment on the hydration as I used it along with a sunscreen . But the skin felt hydrated. My partner also tried this product but he got reactions as his skin is sensitive and allergic to niacinamide so discontinued the product. The product is a good one and I definitely recommend this. But it may cause reactions in sensitive skin people. stop the product if reactions occur.

Felt good on the skin but would not buy again…

I used this serum 1-2x a day for about 2-3 months, it definitely did a good job moisturising, brightening and smoothing my skin but it didn’t do very much for the uneven skin tone and dark spots. I had to give it a 3/5 due to what it treats vs the price. - Would you repurchase this product? No, due to the price and fragrance. - Would you recommend it to family and friends? Depending on their budget and preference yes - What did you like/not like about it? The strong smell and the price vs the concerns it does treat isn’t that great. - Did your skin feel more hydrated after using it? Yes - Did your skin look visibly brighter after using it? Yes

Nice

Noticed a difference to my skin texture after weeks of use. I think my pigmentation is too stubborn to rid with skincare. This product is a lovely serum comes in a drop bottle that is very hygienic. I use it under my thick moisturise in the evening and it's quick absorbing, sits well under the moisturiser. There is a scent to it and it's fairly strong in my opinion. I'll keep using to it see if it will make a difference to my pigmentation. Overall, it's a pretty costly product. So hopefully I'll see some pigmentation improvements. otherwise I think any general niacinamide will do at a lower cost point

Fantastic product, worth the price tag

The product was fantastic, Results were very quick. I used this with my daily cleanser 2/3 times a week. I noticed less acne (i suffer with hormonal acne) my dark spots lightened dramatically as well as a noticeably firmer skin. Unlike alot of serums there was no sticky residue once it had been absorbed and left my skin hydrated and feeling incredible. The packaging has a simple but luxurious feel to it with La Roche-Posay's simple white and blue label and a glass dropper and glass bottle, which is the perfect size to fit anywhere on the vanity/makeup/skincare I would 100% continue to use this product.

Love. Love, love! Love. Love, love! I started the La Roche-Posay MELA B3 Niacinamide Serum a few wks ago. I did notice a noticeable difference with my discolouration patches on my forehead. A nice serum

I really liked this product. It felt really nice on my skin and made it feel nice and smooth. The product is really easy to dispense and the dropper works well. I've been using this product for at least 12 weeks and still have plenty left in the bottle. Although I didn't notice a significant reduction in dark spots, I also have had more time in the sun. I did notice, as the bottle says it would, my skin is more sensitive to sunlight, but made a conscious effort to wear sunscreen every day, but occasionally forgot and got burnt :(

Slow and steady!

I used this product for about two months consistently in my morning and evening routine and saw my sunspots slowly go lighter. A great product if you are patient when it comes to seeing results. It has almost no fragrance, slightly moisturising, and has a nice texture that is easily absorbed by the skin. I would recommend using it as an addition to your routine rather than a replacement because I didn’t find that it helped drastically with hydration and I have relatively dry skin. My skin is also quite sensitive but I had no issues. It’s an effective product but don’t expect results overnight - slow and steady!

Suitable for sensitive skin

I truly trust this brand and was so so excited to try this new product and incorporate it in to my daily skin care routine. I found this product super easy to use on my sensitive skin, it did not irritate me at all and did not flare up my dermatitis. I would say this is a very suitable product for people with moderately sensitive skin. I found that it improved my overall texture, reduced my acne breakouts and longevity of pimples. I found it did get rid of some newer darker marks and pigmentation but I found that it did not too much for my older pigmentation and spots. It kept my face feeling super hydrated and bouncy, with a subtle glow. Worked really well with my other skin care products and under makeup. This is probably the first time trying a niacinamide and hyperpigmentation product so I am keen to try out a few more and see how this compares. I would re purchase this product although it is at a fairly high price point compared to some other drug store brands. I would definitely suggest this to friends and family who are wanting to try a new brightening facial product.

Slotted into my Skin Routine

I really like the texture and smell of this product, very clean and felt high quality. The applicator is also really nice and feels hygienic. I tried to look for help online for how to integrate this into my current routine and I ended up pairing with my hyaluronic acid over my light serums and under my moisturiser. I have sensitive skin so I did notice some initial small breakouts when using this and paired this back to once every few days. I did notice my skin healing faster and more evenly than usual, especially with continued use over several weeks. I think with consistency this product is good to brighten and even skin tone.
