Didn't notice much change over a year
In terms of irritation, the effacular duo plus is great. I have not experienced any irritable redness or skin peeling during my use of this product, and it feels normal on the skin, just like a moisturising cream. It's worth noting that this treatment is meant to dry out your face to treat it, especially if you apply it over your whole face. I am on my second tube of this product, but the main reason why was because I hoped to keep using it for longer incase it was time to produced noticeable results. Plus, with their high reputation and high end prices, you expect noticeable results and benefits. However, I started using this during around mid 2020 as a spot treatment and sometimes the whole face, and I have not noticed ground breaking results.
I purchased La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Plus after reading a blog review. I suffer from consistent breakouts of cystic acne and with sensitive skin needed a gentle solution. It has a very light consistency gel-cream texture and a subtle scent. It quickly absorbs into the skin without feeling sticky or oily. It is easy to apply. You can use for the entire face morning and evening, after cleansing and even provides a great base for make-up. Or as I prefer only to use the Effaclar Duo on areas where I have problems, directly on clean skin. It does not eliminate acne, but it prevents acne from forming. It has definitely helped in clearing out and improving my skin texture. New breakouts have also reduced as well as blemishes from previous marks.
While it took approximately 2-3 weeks of use for a noticeable difference an improvement does happen! This is now one of my holy grail acne treatments.
Pros -
• Affordable
• Reduces redness.
• Works great as a spot treatment.
• Does not turn skin oily.
Cons -
• Can sting at first
• No SPF.
• Not a suitable as a standalone moisturizer
I would recommend this product to anyone who is trying to fight spots, acne or clogged skin. It is also fantastic for improving scars or as a spot treatment for breakouts.
I tried out the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo when my skin had congested and large pores with redness. This product has a lightweight texture which glides onto my skin smoothly and it has a soothing effect and doesn't feel sticky or greasy after dry down. After using it for a month, it is very visible that my my pores were less congested and reduced in size. Redness on my face have also improved.
This product was recommended to me to minimise pores which had become more noticeable as iv aged and I was quite self conscious about it. The cream really works. After just a few weeks my pores were less noticeable and my skin looked smoother. I also have an oily tzone and the lightweight cream controls the oil and shine and helps prevent the odd breakout I still get. It feels light to wear and is a silky consistence that spreads easily and sinks right into my skin. It’s perfect for anyone with sensitive skin as it never irritates and a little goes a long way so it’s quite economical, it lasts for ages. I have also given a tube of this to my teenage niece who suffers breakouts and she loves it, so it’s suitable for all age groups. This is a great effective product the I would highly recommend, another ka Roche posay winner.
A few years ago after neglecting my skin for too long after having a baby, my skin was starting to falter with pimples everywhere. It was terrible. So after searching for a product that would be gentle on my skin I found this one. It's not really about spot treatments, it's an overall preventative treatment. I use it only once a day after cleansing in the morning and before I put moisturiser on. I put it all over my face and let it sink it (which is really quickly, and a little goes a long way. I still get pimple every now and then but nothing like what I used to now that i use this product every day. it's totally worked for me.
A few months ago I put a LOT of time into researching the best products to clear up congestion and acne. I'm 30 years old and still get random breakouts!!! I was frankly ,quite over it.
This product is one of the very few that kept popping up/being recommended and had such positive reviews and results for skin clearing. It was also made specifically for sensitive skin which was a huge plus for me as many "clearing" products tend to irritate my skin.
I had to try it.
The La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo Plus comes packaged in a slim, portable tube with twist off lid and a nozzle applicator which makes it handy to apply to select areas if you don't want to apply to the entire face.
The scent is absolutely lovely. If you are familiar with La Roche products, you will know the scent I mean. Just a mild, gentle aroma that smells gorgeous.
The cream is like a lightweight lotion and feels cooling on the skin. I apply this all over my face if my skin is being particularly problematic, and just on certain problem areas at other times.
My skin absolutely loves this stuff! It has never caused me any irritation or dryness no matter how often or where I apply it to my face. It just leaves my skin with a nice hydrated and clean feel.
I still get occasional breakouts around my neck and chin but I believe these to be a hormonal issue. My pores have visibly shrunk in the months I have used this though and I don't get random congestion anywhere else on my face like I used to on occasion.
I feel this is the most effective topical treatment I have come across to clear up congestion and keep the skin smooth and even whilst still being amazingly gentle so even the most sensitive skin can use this.I would recommend anyone having issues with blemishes give this a try. I have tried hundreds of products that claim to do similar things, but this is the only one I've seen real and long term results with.
This product seems to improve my skim texture when I first started using it. However after a week or so I started getting quite a few pimples in areas of my face that I don't usually get pimples. I used it it conjunction with other products in the range. I found that I needed something stronger to get rid of the larger pimples.

I have really enjoyed using this product, it has improved my skin texture no end! I saw a noticeable difference when I began it use it and my acne has cleared up big time! I used it in conjunction with the rest of the product line and all in all have had a very pleasant experience!
The effaclar duo produced a nice creamy texture which was easy to use, and using a little portion does go a long way. I applied this product to my face every morning for a few weeks, I noticed small differences but nothing major. I have rather acne prone skin and I feel as though this product would work nicely on those who have minimal breakouts.
This product partially helped my skin. It took around 1 week for the product to show any improvement on my skin. After the first week I noticed the bigger pimples disappeared, however the smaller ones still showed. After continuously using this product there was a gradual improvement. I would yet still recommend this.
I use this as a spot treatment whenever I see any small bumps appearing in my skin. This is a good product to try as your first product in combatting smaller acne that hasn't come to a head yet but I don't find it's a leave on and wake up with significantly improved skin, this product is slow and takes some time to show it's working. Nevertheless, I find that it works fairly decent on my sensitive acne-prone skin, and has a nice lightweight texture.
I was very excited to use this product, and love other products in this range, however I was not fully satisfied with the product. Whilst it feels lovely and light, and nicely smoothes over my pores, yet I did not notice any significant changes to the small pimples/impurities across my forehead. So whilst the product does feel lovely, I did not notice a huge difference in my skin texture.
This worked wonders for my face! I've had a massive reduction in the amount of spots on my face, the pores on my nose are noticeably smaller and my face has looked and felt less oily. I used the smallest amount quiet sparingly and still saw a difference. This product is definitely a must have in your skin care routine.
I thought this product sounded really promising and I was excited to use it, however it didn't really work the best with my skin. I do like that the product is super light weight on the skin, but it did make my skin feel a little dried out. It is probably just similar to any other brands products.
The product felt thin and easy to apply, no stickiness afterwards. I didn't notice any unpleasant/chemical smells either, which is good. I used this product in conjunction with the Effaclar Mat, and together they did leave my skin feeling matte for most of the day. Unfortunately for me though, I did not notice any difference in my skin/breakouts. I will continue to use the product though, as for the pricepoint it's great value for money.
I am obsessed with this product. It does an incredible job in clearing out the pores and clarifying the skin, as well as diminishing the appearance of blemishes. I get quite a bit of hormonal acne during that time of the month, but with using this product, I received little to none - so impressed! It has a lovely scent and a light texture that applies nicely on the skin. I follow up with some spf and moisturizer as my skin can get a bit dry working in an office - but overall this is an amazing product if you have blemish prone skin.
This product sounded so promising but unfortunately just didn't work for me. I have quite normal skin but in summer can get oily throughout my t-zone and very dry elsewhere and found this just exacerbated the dryness. I switched to using this at night time and only a small amount of product where required and had better experiences with it, but feel as though it is much better to suited to very oily skin types. I experienced fewer breakouts using this but didn't notice a significant reduction in pore size or acne scarring. The product is lightweight, fragrance is pleasant, a little product goes a long way and the tube is travel/user friendly and hygienic.
I enjoyed using the La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo Plus. The formula felt nice on the skin and was moisturising. I did not find it as effective on breakouts as other brands, but for the price point it is a good product. I have very breakout prone skin and I feel that this product may perform better on someone who only gets the occasional breakout.
This LRP wonder is great at reducing pore size and assisting with clearing skin, to reveal a youthful, more clear complexion. The lightweight formula is great for those with oilier skin and the price point is great for a treatment based product. I will definitely purchase again and recommend to my friends who suffer with breakouts.
I loved how lightweight this feels and how quickly it absorbs into my skin. I was having issues with congestion near my chin, since using this over the last few weeks the area feels so much smoother and less textured. I was impressed that it didn’t dry the rest of my skin out. It seemed to calm down some redness and my skin overall looked brighter. I’ll be keeping this on hand for when my skin in acting up.
