Generation Clay Ultraviolet Brightening Clay Mask

I have the skin type in need of a good clay mask from time to time;oily and blemish prone. The problem is my skin is also quite sensitive and most clay masks irritate my skin as they get all tight and flakey. Just uncomfortable for me to use and leave my skin a bit red and itchy. Regardless, I am always happy to give a new one a try in the hopes I will finally find one I can use. I have found it in this one from Generation Clay. The Generation Clay Brightening Purple Clay Mask comes packaged in a pretty purple tube with pop top lid. I love the ingredients list is pretty much all natural(aloe vera, bilberry,hibiscus,cedarwood,mandarin,violet leaf to name a few) and that this mask is made in Australia. I used this while taking a relaxing bath or before showering. I applied a generous amount to cleansed face and neck. The scent is lovely. I detect the clay aroma with hints of various essential oils that are so calming and earthy. The mask is purple when applied but dries almost white which is awesome. If I lost track of time,I just had to check in the mirror to see how far along in the colour change process the mask was to know if it was time to rinse off or not. The mask was incredibly gentle to wear. I had no discomfort at all. It was also quite easy to wash off which is rare for a clay mask! My skin felt instantly refreshed and smoothed after use. I am certain it even gave me more of a radiance that wasn't there before. Very happy with this mask and quite interested to check out more from this range in future.

Firstly, I love that this is in a tube. It makes application and longevity much improved. The formula itself has a nice scent- smells like a spa. As I have dry skin I only applied this mask to my T-zone, though I still found it too dry for my skin. I did however love to sensation of this mask as I haven’t ever used a hardening face mask before. As such, I would recommend this product for those with oily or combination skin.

Generation Clay brightening mask comes in a lavender coloured squeeze tube with a flip-top lid. The clay mask is a lilac coloured, opaque clay mask with a smooth, not too thick consistency. It smells of lavender to me, which is calming. I spread the mask onto my face in an even layer with a silicon brush, avoiding the eye areas. The mask starts drying as the colour of the mask changes from a wet lilac to a dry white and oil dots start to appear in my t-zone. I experience mild stinging on and around my lip area from the mask upon application but it all goes away as the mask dries. The mask starts to stiffen on my face and I know its time to wash off the mask. I usually rinse off the mask in the shower so its not messy for me. Post rinse, my skin feels softer, the pores temporarily shrunken as the mask soaks up excess sebum, and my face looks brighter and even toned. I think this mask is good to pop-on before a night out or as a little tlc in the middle of the week and especially in the warm weather when I'm more oily than usual.

I have heard of masks from this brand and was really intrigued to find they had a violet mask, which I had never heard of before. So I was really happy that Beauty Crew kindly sent me that very same violet mask to review for Supercrew. The purple clay mask is supposed to refine and brighten the complexion, minimizing large pores and purifying the skin. As larger pores are something of an annoyance for me at the moment I was happy about this, although also a little anxious about how much purification would happen, as I have dry skin. The mask gets its delicate mauve colour from Bilberry and Davidson Plum, combined with the usual kaolin clay. The cool clay smooths on easily and is a slightly thick texture. I found a hot tingling sensation when it first went on, which I did not enjoy but fortunately was not long-lasting and didn’t translate into red irritated skin afterwards, thank goodness! It had a particularly burning sensation around the sensitive nose area, so I learnt to avoid this, and also to carefully time the length of this mask. Too long and my skin felt like a desert! Overall I found that when I timed the mask correctly my skin felt very soft after removing it with a warm washcloth, it also had a clear matte appearance and texture. Unfortunately my skin was still crying out for moisturizer, which is a sign that the formula is too drying for my skin type. I noticed that it contains both witchhazel and a small amount of benzyl alcohol, which are both quite drying. Great if you have oily skin – not so good for me. Fortunately I haven’t seen any noticeable bad effects so far, although that might change with prolonged use. It has not made any difference to the larger pores. I will probably continue to use the Purple Clay Mask, with a shorter “setting” time, as I do like the clear matte effect afterwards, but would aim for a more hydrating formula when next choosing a mask. However, for someone trying to deal with oily skin, this mask would probably be perfect.

My first time trialling this brand and I’m happy to report I’ve got nothing but love. To apply the product I’ve been using a soft brittle brush, but fingers would be sufficient. You only need to leave this on for 10 minutes, no tingling or heat to be felt. To remove simply use a damp cloth thankfully no rubbing required. Skin feels soft, hydrated and breakouts to a minimum. Will definitely repurchase.

While I used to enjoy using a hard drying clay mask when I was younger, I have not purchased any hard drying clay mask for myself in a while. I feel that most drying clay masks are a little too much for my skin. This mask has a nice, thin consistency which is easy to apply. It comes in a tube which js fantastic as I found clay masks in a tub tend to dry up quickly. I also like its botanical scent. It starts to dry and turn white after a few minutes and I need to rinse it off after 10 mins to prevent it from over drying my skin. My skin does feel clean afterwards but in my opinion it is not the most suitable for my skin type. I would have really enjoyed it if i had oilier skin.

For reference, I am in my fifties and I have dry skin. I was gifted the Generation Clay Ultraviolet Brightening Clay Mask for trial purposes. The lavender-coloured mask is housed in an opaque plastic tube and it has a medium consistency. I could smell the clay in the mask, and I could also smell another scent which would have been the botanical ingredients. I applied a generous layer of the mask on my face. I felt a subtle tightening feel after application which remained throughout the time that the mask was on my face, but I never felt discomfort. It is possible that if I had applied a thinner layer of the mask, I would not have experienced a tightening feel. The mask did not create a tingling sensation, but my skin is used to regular exfoliation. I removed the mask with warm water and a Face Halo (a reuseable makeup remover), and the removal process was easy. Post-application, my skin did not look or feel irritated. After about an hour after I had removed the mask, my skin felt slightly smoother and softer. For trial purposes, I did not use a serum or moisturiser after using the mask to see what my skin was like. When I woke up in the morning after using the mask, my skin still felt slightly smoother. I cannot comment on whether the mask has any brightening properties because I have pale skin and pigmentation is not an issue for me. If you have sensitive skin, I suggest that you do a patch test before using the mask. I have read a few reviews for the mask on an overseas website where people had a reaction to it.

This is a definite 5 stars for me. I noticed a difference in my skin when using this mask. I noticed a marked improvement in the clarity of my skin. It also become softer and smoother. I noticed that my moisturiser absorbed better after using it. I used it exactly as the instructions and applied it to clean dry skin and let it sit there for 10 minutes. Then I washed it of with warm water. I liked that it didn't make my skin feel too dry like some other clay masks that I have used in the past. In fact my skin felt very good and comfortable even straight after washing it off. I would recommend this mask to anyone that thinks their skin is looking a bit lacklustre. I don't have any negative feedback about this mask.

Face masks have become a staple in my skincare routine and Generation Clay Ultraviolet Brightening Clay Mask leaves my skin glowing like a Goddess (almost ☺). I love the pretty lilac colour and the soft relaxing scent. The squeeze tube made it really easy to use and it’s the only clay mask that I have used that doesn’t dry my skin out. I applied, left it for 10 minutes and removed it with warm water. My pores look more refined, my skin is soft, supple, radiant, (I could see that my skin had a sheen to it) and feels silky smooth. What a gorgeous mask and I can’t wait to use it again.

I found the Generation Clay Ultraviolet Brightening Clay Mask to be relatively soft and gentle on my skin. It did tingle a little but when first applies but I had no redness after washing it off and it did not dry out my skin. I have fairly oily skin and I could see it absorbing the oil out of my pores which is great. After washing off the mask my skin felt clean, clear and soft which is exactly what I look for in a mask. It’s gentle enough to use every few days and my skin was quite happy with me using it twice a week. The tube made it easy to apply and the bright purple packaging puts a bit of fun into your bathroom cabinet (I leave mine beside the bath tub). If you are looking for a no fuss clay mask then this one is definitely worth checking out.

This is a beautiful clay face mask. I always do face masks every 2-3 days for my personal skin and for my own skin needs and depending on what my skin needs is what masks I'll be using. I have used this clay mask about 5-6 times now since receiving it and I really like it so much. As it is a brightening mask, it isn't a traditional product I'd reach for but I've now changed my mind because it really has brightened my dark circles and the small amount of hyper pigmentation I do have but it also added a nice level of hydration after it was removed and it stayed there with my skin. And the very light exfoliating was great with this mask aswell, it left my skin feeling very soft and fresh. This is my first time using a brightening clay mask and I really love this one and I will definitely be rebuying this

Wow- I have thoroughly enjoyed testing the Generation clay Brightening Purple Clay mask! It’s one of the few clay masks that delivers immediate, noticeable results. I like to use the mask once a week and find it quick and simple to use. The squeeze tube packaging makes it is easy to apply (not sticky or messy), it dries in around 10 minutes, and removes easily with warm water. Once the mask has been removed, the results are immediate and it leaves my skin looking brighter and feeling smoother. Apart from how wonderfully the mask works, I like that Generation Clay is an Australian brand, vegan and cruelty free. Two thumbs up!

This is a fantastic mask. It's thick in texture, and simple to apply. It dries down completely, and washes off easily. It makes my skin feel fresh and clean. It feels softer and looks brighter after I use this mask. I can see the tube lasting me a long time, which makes it amazing value. Definitely recommend!

This little beauty of a mask gets right in there and gets all the dirt out. After one use my skin was noticeably cleaner and clearer, blackheads almost gone, and brighter skin. Second usage cleared out anything left behind. This is a keeper for me.

I was excited to try the Generation Clay mask. Made in Australia, cruelty free and fun to use. The mask is presented in a sensible violet 100gram squeeze tube so great for travel or to apply while soaking in a warm bath - Heavenly! The mask is a fun violet colour and has a neutral light scent the texture is creamy and thick and applies easily to clean dry skin. I have sensitive skin and had no adverse reactions and found the mask comfortable even though it dried and tightened very quickly. I followed the instructions and left the mask on for 10 minutes before easily removing with warm water. The results were great my skin felt soft and plump and looked really healthy and fresh. A terrific result for minimum effort. I tried the mask twice a week through this trial and my skin loves this treatment so I will repurchase.

I was very lucky to receive this product as part of the SUPERcrew kit. I am not familiar with the Generation Clay brand but boy was I impressed! This is a fantastic clay mask and one of the best I have tried - and I have tried many! It's housed in a bright purple squeeze tube. The mask is such a beautiful lilac colour and has a smooth texture so it's very easy to apply. I sometimes use my fingers but prefer to use a bristle or silicone brush for a cleaner application. It dries quickly and I felt the slightest tingle - likely the AHAs going to work - but nothing I couldn't handle. I used a cloth to remove the mask and afterwards my skin felt incredibly soft, my pores were noticeably clearer and I did notice my complexion was a little brighter. I can't fault this mask. It does everything it claims to and I don't mind paying the price when I get results. Highly recommended!

One of the better clay based masks out there! At first it all starts same: Washed my face well. Pat dried. Applied this purple mask on in a thick layer as I just want to (sublime colour by the way!). The mask dried out quite quickly (less than 10 minutes), so what I do ( my skin is tough by the way) I reactivate the mask by spritzing purified water I have in my glass spray bottle for cases like these (and when I want to use face oils, for skin dampening). Again I leave mask on until completely dry. This clay mask does stiffen when dry, so moving face is a no no. I use face halo (or any wash cloth) to remove quicker the clay off the face when ready. My skin: oily to combo, mid aged, no lines or wrinkles, just big pores and pigmentation. After using the mask a few times, always same result: very soft skin. No tight feeling after rinsing it off and pat drying the face. Very unusual for a clay mask, plus one that has witch hazel. Interesting. Love that my skin after is so smooth as well. Applying serums for brightening (B3, VitC, HA) is so perfect, on a silky clear skin. Mask is very comfortable on my skin. Does not cause any tingling, or any sensation at all. Except stiffening when dry. So funny. Can't laugh when on. Love the large size! As I use quite a bit and love the formula. Contains brightening ingredients that work superbly well with my serums that I apply after. I loved using this clay mask. I spread it using my fingers and within a few minutes, it dried on my skin. I simply rinsed it off in the shower. After use, my skin skin felt soft and clean. Since it is clay, it can be a little drying on my skin, so I moisturise well afterward. This clay mask felt great on my skin and is a perfect size to take away when travelling for some instant pampering.

I am a fan of facial masks and have a quite a huge collection of them. As with the majority of my beauty products I have my favourites that work for me very well and I tend to compare any new trialled product to them. Generation CLay Brightening Mask is an ok mask, I will continue using it, it does no harm, but it does not give me that Wow effect I get with other brands ( Glamglow or philosophy). I like the light Purple shade the mask comes in, I like the handy tube packaging. I like the fact that it does not dry out the skin too much. It is also pretty easy to wash off. But it lacks something that would want me to but this product again. The reason might well be the fact thta my face is so used to AHA's and BHA's and retinol that a rather delicate mask like this is not going to do much.

I love clay masks, they really do suit my skin. My skin gets oily, has pores and hormonal breakouts. This mask is wonderful, as it is all ready to use in the tube, simply wash your face, pat dry, apply a layer of the mask and leave for around 15 minutes, then rinse off. The mask is a lovely lilac colour, yes quite a change for a clay mask!! The mask feels very comfortable on the skin, and doesn't leave your skin feeling dry or tight. My skin felt very clean and refreshed, smooth and exfoliated, all the dry skin had come off and I felt my skincare penetrated my skin so much better. I really recommend this mask for all ages and skin types, it is a lovely exfoliating, deep cleansing mask which also is gentle and effective on all skin. My oiliness improved when used twice weekly.
