Great choice for retinol beginners but expensive
I was going to give this product a much longer trial period as I thought it took would take over a month to see any positive results but I am pleased to say that after only a mere few weeks (applied 1-2 pumps 1-2 times a week at night), I could already see positive changes. My skin is brighter, clear, and relatively smooth, and although it has not immediately faded scars, I can see they are in the process of fading.
The formulation contains 0.5% encapsulated retinol, which means the retinol is encased by a lipid or fatty acid molecule and penetrates deep below skin's surface before it slowly dissolves (using a time-release technology). This type of formulation bypasses the typical surface-level irritation one experiences with pure retinol and is the type of retinol formulation I would recommend to beginners of retinol use as it is powerful but gentle. In this formulation, there are also peptides and ceramides to restore the skin barrier, kakadu plum seed oil for brightening, and niacinamide and hyaluronic acid to hydrate.
There are a couple of downsides. There is a bit of fragrance in the mix that can be a bit overwhelming for some when you initially apply it. It does not linger though. Not sure why it is included in the formulation as it seems unnecessary. The other elephant in the room is the price. Good or not, there is 30ml in the bottle but it may not warrant the hefty $139 price tag which is not accessible to everyone and some may not consider this quantity good value when the price is considered.
Glowing skin
Wow I am so impressed with this retinol serum.
I can definitely see results after almost a month of using it. My skin just glows. It is smooth, plump , bright and hydrated. It has also kept my skin clear from pimples I am so much enjoying clear , glowing skin.
It comes in an airpump bottle. The serum has a yellow tint and a slight medicinal scent.
When I first apply it I feel a tingle and warn sensation. That feeling disappears after a few minutes. The next morning after I wash my face, I feel my face glows and looks so much brighter.
The serum has encapsulated retinol that is slowly released. This is great because it means it does not irritate or dry out your skin. The hyularonic acid in this serum keeps your skin hydrated. However I did notice some dry skin on my nose on the third day after I used this serum. Does not make your skin peel though .
This is the best retinol serum I've used so far and will keep buying.
Hydrating & Smoothing Retinol Serum
The Ella Baché Retinol Night Treatment Serum contains 0.5% encapsulated retinol, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and ceramide complex. These all work together to help provide a firmer, hydrated and smoother complexion.
This treatment serum comes in an airless pump bottle, that pumps out a yellow cream which easily melts into the skin. This is an active treatment and contains a lower percentage of retinoids, which is great for anyone looking to start a routine with retinoids. I started using this two nights a week to ensure that my skin was able to tolerate this without any issues, and slowly increased to to every second night the following week. I have noticed that my skin feels more soft and firm, and looks more hydrated and smoother. I hope the long term use will result in further anti-ageing benefits. My skin appears more healthy and hydrated.
I would recommend this to anyone looking to add retinoids into their skin routine for the anti-ageing benefits. Just remember to also follow up with SPF on a daily basis. Loving the Ella Baché Retinol Night Treatment Serum in my current routine.
Perhaps a bit too strong for my skin
Ella Bache Retinol Night Treatment Serum... which I had totally underestimated. This is some serious stuff.
In fact, I am now not sure if this is suitable for me at all.
First impression. This is the first fluorescent yellow serum for me. The colour is intimidating. It does not actually makes skin look yellow, but it's not like I would be going anywhere with the serum on my face anyway. It is strictly for night time use.
0.5% encapsulated formulation. Encapsulation is a delivery system where the the active ingredient (retinol) is delivered inside envelopes of phospholipids. The system is claimed to release the active ingredient slower (and hence less immediate side effects) and helps the active to penetrate deeper.
What I love, is the comprehensive list of great ingredients in the serum to balance out the drying effect of retinol: shea oil, ceramides, hyaluronate and vitamin E just to name a few.
Despite all that, this serum must be introduced gradually. Start with every 3 nights and then increase frequency as skin tolerates. I learned it the hard way. Initially, I did a few pumps every night and by the fourth day, my moisturiser barrier was all screwed up. I stopped and restarted. One pump is all I need for the whole face and then another pump for chest and neck, every 3 nights, and I am getting such great results from it - as long as my skin is tolerating. The major difference is the long lasting skin smoothness. I also noticed that my skin is noticeably brighter the morning after using it. This serum is very effective, with visible changes within the first 2 weeks.
However, I find that my skin does not always tolerate. For one, after more than a month now, I still cannot go more frequent than every 3 nights. My skin is usually a lot more resilient than this, and this is not my first retinol product either. I am intending to keep trying but not sure if I will end up loving it as much as I thought I would.
A serum that works
This Ella Bache retinol treatment serum allows your skin to get the benefits of retinol while also being gentle and hydrating to the skin at the same time. I think this is a high end product that really allows you to incorporate retinol into your skincare regime efficiently. I used this product at night right after washing my face. It's hydrating and feels nice on the skin. I like the potent ingredients such as Kakadu plum seed oil, niacinamide, shea oil and hyaluronic acid. I have found my skin feels much smoother and softer. My skin tone has evened out quite a bit and looks much brighter. I would highly recommend this product that is normally advised by dermatologists!
Turn Back Time
I was very excited to try this premium product as I have been trying to reverse some premature aging for some time now and Retinol is a fantastic anti-aging ingredient. This has 0.5% Encapsulated Retinol meaning the Retinol is released into the skin more gradually, which can be less irritating and better for those with sensitive skin.
Pros:
Australian made!
No parabens.
No colouring agents.
No mineral oils.
Effective; actually works!
Reduces appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
Plumps skin.
Smooths skin.
Evens out skin tone.
Reduces appearance of dark spots.
Super gentle; no irritation or dryness of skin.
Lovely texture. The bright, bold yellow is a thicker type serum, almost cream-like. It feels silky smooth and is easy to spread on the skin.
Absorbs easily.
No unpleasant residue; not sticky or greasy/oily.
Cons:
Only lasts 3 months once opened. This is not an issue if used as directed, but for those using less often it may go bad before the bottle is finished.
Price. This may not be affordable for some. You get what you pay for but for some people this is just not an option and way out of their budget.
Overall, this is a fantastic Retinol serum and one worth trying if you can afford it. I have experienced only good effects, with healthier, plumper and smoother skin. I did experience minimal peeling as expected with Retinol products (it has been a while since I used one) but no irritation or increased skin sensitivity which sometimes occurs when using products with active ingredients. This would be suitable for most skin types.
My new holy grail retinol!
The serum comes in a 30mL size pump bottle, which looks very sleek in white packaging.
After cleansing my face at night I applied 1.5 pumps to my fingertips and massaged it into my skin. The serum is yellow in colour and I found it was really easy to massage in, I did not notice any scent.
After application I felt a slight tingle and warming sensation to my skin which is expected and I like because I like being able to feel that a product like this is working. it went away after a minute or so and left my skin feeling comfortable, I continued after that to apply eye cream and moisturiser to my skin.
I used this serum every second night for the first week then the second week increased a extra night I found that the next day my skin was slightly dry and flaky which was because I was already using it every second night and probably should have waited a bit longer to increase the use.
After waiting a further week I applied the serum to my skin for two consecutive nights and the next morning it was flaky again. So scaled back again to alternate night use.
After a month of using my serum only on consecutive nights I’ve noticed such a big improvement in my skin. Firstly I’ve noticed how much for even and smooth my skin appears over my whole face,The big pores on my nose have reduced and it looks more hydrated. The little dehydration lines especially on my forehead have gone or have improved. My skin has a natural glow and the hormonal breakouts along my jaw have disappeared.
I will continue using this serum on alternate nights as that’s how I’ve found it works the best for my skin. I would highly recommend this serum for anyone wanting their skin to improve in appearance especially targeting a more firmer, smooth and hydrated complexion.
The best Retinol serum
I have been using the Ella Baché Retinol Night Treatment Serum 2 nights a week for the last 5 weeks.
I find 1 pump is sufficient for my face and I make sure I slather my face and neck in a Moisturing SPF the following morning.
This product comes in a 30ml airtight plastic bottle with a pump and lid. You can't see through the bottle and this makes sure the Retinol isn't exposed to light.
The Serum itself is thick and bright yellow in colour and has a mild scent.
The Retinol Treatment Serum contains 0.5% encapsulated Retinol. Encapsulated basically means that the product is absorbed slower and penetrated deeper into the skin before being activated. This also helps reduce irritation and sensitivity. The serum also contains niacinamide to reduce redness and irritation in the skin which is a common side effect when using Retinol and hyaluronic acid to hydrate.
I haven't experienced any irritation whilst using this serum.
My skin is definitely looking brighter and feels so much smoother and my skin texture and tone is more refined. This serum is highly efficacious. The morning after I use the serum is where I notice how much my skin has improved. It's so bright and just glows so much. This product is smoothing, fine line plumping, hydrating and it works!
My skin has never looked so luminous and this serum has replaced my dull-looking skin with a healthier, more vibrant glow.
This serum has everything in the 1 bottle than my skin craves and I couldn't recommend it enough.
Gives a plump looking skin.
My eyes lit up when I discovered that I have the chance to trial Ella Baché’s new Night Treatment Serum that is meant for ageing skin. Since becoming a mum of two, I am completely sleep-deprived and it shows on my skin. It is looking horrible, dull and wrinkly. I rarely have time for a proper skin routine anymore and thus I was excited to try a serum that is supposed to tackle all my skin problems.
Since Vitamin A is a highly active ingredient I slowly phased in using this night serum and started by twice a week and then gradually built up the frequency. I applied it at night after cleansing my skin. Only a few pumps covered my whole face. I have a sensitive skin and I did experience a warm and tingling sensation after applying but that only lasted for a few minutes.
After using it for almost a month, I can say that my skin is looking good. The appearance of enlarged pores, wrinkles and fine lines has diminished. I actually enjoy looking myself in the mirror now and would recommend this serum to everyone whose skin needs some boost and rejuvenation.
Ella Bache Retinol Serum
I was very excited to have the opportunity to trial the Ella Bache Retinol Night Treatment Serum because retinol has now become a staple in my pm skincare routine.
Not only does this serum contain O.5% encapsulated retinol it also boasts kakadu plum seed oil, niacinamide, hyaluronic acid and ceramides to deliver maximum anti aging benefits. These include smoothing, brightening and hydrating.
The serum comes in a slim plastic bottle with 30 ml of product. Serum is delivered thanks to the convenient pump top dispenser. The serum has a creamy light weight consistency with a soft floral fragrance. I would prefer a fragrance free option, but thankfully the scent is pleasant.
This product feels lovely and smooth as I apply it to my skin. Two pumps is enough for face and neck. Being a light weight formula it absorbs into my skin quite quickly, however it provides enough hydration that I often don't feel the need to follow with a facial oil or moisturiser.
I have not experienced any adverse reactions such as peeling or even redness. Thanks to the encapsulated retinol, it makes for a more gentle way to incorporate retinol into the skin. Personally I did not feel the need to add it to my routine slowly as recommended, however I have been using retinols on my combination/dehydrated mid-40s skin for some time now, so I am accustomed to using this active.
After almost a month's use I have noticed improvements to my skin. I don't have as much texture, my complexion is brighter and more even and I have noticed that my skin looks more plump so my fine lines are reduced.
I have not been disappointed by the Ella Bache Retinol Night Treatment Serum. It is gentle yet packs a punch when it comes to reducing signs of aging. A win for me!
Packed with active ingredients
It was a real treat to trial this serum. Not only does the formula contain 0.5% encapsulated retinol, it includes many other active ingredients like niacinamide, vitamin E, 3 types of ceramides, sodium hyaluronate and a peptide.
Retinol is a very unstable ingredient and it was good to see that the packaging was an airtight pump instead of a dropper, so no air or light can get in to cause degradation of the product. However, the period after opening is still 3 months. The serum is actually more of an emulsion and is yellow in colour, with no strong fragrance. It absorbs easily and is reasonably hydrating, and you can still add your usual night moisturiser after.
I have used up to 1% retinol before, but surprisingly I did get a bit of irritation when I tried to used this product every night - the irritation sometimes noticeable the next morning when apply my usual products that have never caused irritation. Once I backed off to once every 2 nights, there was no irritation. Those new to retinol should definitely follow instructions and start slow and apply every 3 nights or so until skin adjusts. I did not see visible improvement as such given that I was already using retinol, but I think this is an excellent formula, as 0.5% is a decent amount compared to many over the counter products that usually max out at around 0.3%. I also appreciate all the extra ingredients which meant that my evening routine could be simplified. The serum felt luxurious. It is pricey but the formula is superior to other over-the-counter retinol products.
New glowy skin
Thanks to Beauty Crew for sending me this this Retinol serum in their VIP Box.
This serum comes in a plastic bottle with a pump dispenser. This serum has a thick consistency and is bright yellow in colour. A pea sized amount is sufficient to cover my face and it is easy to apply and it absorbs quickly.
The instructions are clear with this serum, i.e., use sparingly and build your tolerance to it. I have followed the instructions to the letter and have had excellent results with this product. I use it three times a week at night.
My skin has a noticeable glow and is quite plump. Also, my smile lines are not as deep as before. However, I need to use a thick moisturiser since it dries my skin slightly.
I have seen excellent results within a month of using this serum and can't wait to see further results with prolonged use.
Overall, I highly recommend this retinol serum.

Gentle yet effective
I have used retinol based products in the past and while they definitely make a difference to my skin some have made my skin dry and really sensitive. The Ella Bache retinol treatment serum allows your skin to reap the benefits of retinol while also being gentle and hydrating to the skin at the same time. I think it's a great way to incorporate retinol into your skincare routine without having any of the negative effects. The product contains 0.5% retinol which has anti ageing benefits (reducing lines, wrinkles) and is also great for those who have acne and pigmentation. I would use this product at night right after cleansing. It's hydrating and feels nice on the skin. It contains Kakadu plum seed oil which helps with brightening the skin along with other ingredients such as niacinamide, shea oil and hyaluronic acid. I would only use this every two days and found that it didn't cause any dryness or sensitivity to my skin. My skin feels much smoother and softer, my skin tone has evened out a bit more and looks much brighter. My skin looks much healthier than before and I will definitely continue using it.
Great beginner retinol product!
The Ella Baché Retinol Night Treatment Serum is a great beginner retinol product because it is creamy and less likely to dry your skin out. Retinol is a powerful ingredient that when used over time, can assist with the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, as well as acne and pigmentation.
This particular retinol product contains 0.5% encapsulated retinol which can visibly improve the appearance of skin, and from my experience, I noticed a smoother, more even complexion. I love that it contains peptides which rebuild and strengthen the skin’s barrier function, as well as kakadu plum seed oil which brightens my skin and makes it look glowy.
