Dermalogica UltraCalming™ Cleanser

I love dermalogica products. This cleanser is gentle which I love as I suffer from sensitive skin. A beautician recommended this cleanser to me and I’m so glad I took her advice and tried it. The texture is lovely, it’s a gel cream cleanser that I massage into damp skin to remove oil, makeup and grime. It rinses off with ease and always leaves my skin super soft and feeling really clean. There is no scent really and it won’t irritate skin so it’s ideal for anyone with sensitive skin. The cleanser feels lovely on skin, milky and soft and actually improves the appearance of skin, I feel skin looks fresher and brighter when using it so I think it’s well worth the money. I loved this dermalogica cleanser, it’s really effective and I highly recommend it.

I bought this originally because it was recommended to me while I was having a facial at Endota Spa. While I had heard (and have used) Dermalogica products for the last couple of years, this isn't a range I would have purchased if I hadn't had it recommended to me. The gel cleanser is very basic, and I mean that in the nicest possible way. It doesn't have any bells or whistles. It's a gentle cleanser that helps to clean your face. It doesn't really have a smell and it's "boring" compared to other cleansers I've tried. But it's hands down the best cleanser that I've ever used. I've noticed since using it my skin doesn't become as red as it used to. I stopped using it for a few weeks when I ran out and I started to have my skin react to the skincare I was using. But once I went out and bought another bottle of this and used it, my skin started to calm down and go back to normal.  While it's on the more expensive side I've found that it's worth the extra money. After seeing what it does to my skin, and how much it loves it, I'll never use another cleanser again! I now want to try more of the range.  

For years, I have been using this cleanser as my morning cleanser. The cleanser comes in a sturdy, cylindrical bottle which is soft enough to squeeze out the product easily. I like to store the bottle upside down as I found that it is easier to dispense. The cleanser has a gel-cream texture with a very subtle, next-to-nothing botanical scent. I found the cleanser to be most effective when applied on dry skin. After massaging the cleanser on the skin,which removes excess oil and dirt, it can either be rinsed off or tissued off. I prefer for it to be rinsed off for a cleaner feeling. The cleanser does not leave skin feeling dry or tight. That is all good and well. And then one day, I realised that this cleanser is the best SOS beauty product I have ever owned. Last year, my skin suffered from contact dermatitis because of an allergic reaction from another product (the good news is, that product is not listed on BEAUTYcrew!) My skin went into a fairly big shock because it is normally very resilient. At that time, everything seemed to irritate my skin – including water! Dermalogica Ultra-calming cleanser was the only cleanser I could use at that time.  Upon contact with my red,swollen and itchy skin, this cleanser instantly soothed and calmed my skin (and also my senses!). It also took away some redness and itchiness off my skin. It did a great job in cleansing my sensitized skin without aggravating the condition. It was so soothing that I was actually looking forward to my twice-a-day cleansing ritual at the time until my skin was finally recovered. I can wholeheartedly vouch for this cleanser, and I think that there isn’t another name that would describe this cleanser any better. It is truly ultra-calming.

How much do I love this milky-gel cleanser?  Let me count the ways!  First, it has a gorgeous texture.  A bit more substantial than a gel, it's actually more jelly-like, which feels wonderful to cleanse with.  My hot tip is put it in the fridge for the most invigorating cleanse ever!  Cold jelly cleanse... Trust me, it's magic!  Another thing I love about this cleanser is that it rinses away cleanly and effortlessly.  Whether this is your second cleanse or your morning cleanse, this is the perfect way to effortlessly clean and prep skin for the night's skincare or morning makeup application.  Also worth a mention is the very light, pleasant smell.  While I love fragrance, I don't love it in my cleanser.  This is mildly scented with the herbal extracts it contains, which I love, and something that sensitive noses will appreciate is that very slight scent disappears when you rinse.  This cleanser is a must-try because it's a one-size-fits-all cleanser.  Second cleanse, morning cleanse, sensitive skin, oily skin, dry skin... This one does it all beautifully.

The Ultracalming Cleanser is divine!  It feels like milk on your skin.  It cleanses so well without making your skin feel dry and tight.
