Less waste for your dollar!
I gratefully received this hair colour as part of a BeautyCrew trial and this is the first time I can say that the colour seems to go further. Maybe because it was applied after using the pre-colour serum it seems like I could possibly get two full colours out of one package on my short hair. At any rate there was less waste. The colour is rich and after a short time it's staying power is yet to be seen but as a home-only colourer this definitely interests me. I will be hoping for a deep burgundy colour in the line-up!
Don’t use too much!
Oh my goodness, this colour works waaaayyy too well! I coloured my hair last week and am still trying to dim it down… I used the colour chocolate brown and my hair is extremely close to black!
Now, this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, perhaps I used too much colour but I’ve never had that problem with other box dye kits. After 7 seperate shampoos my brown colour is definitely starting to come through, but it’s been a heap of effort.
My hair is super glossy so that’s definitely a perk! It also doesn’t have the super smelly hair dye scent that others have which I definitely appreciate.
Glossy Cocoa Brown!
As a qualified hairdresser, I’m always on the lookout for reliable hair colour products, and Clairol Colour Studio Permanent Cream Colour did not disappoint.
Application:
I applied after using pre-colour serum. The creamy texture made it easy to mix and apply, allowing for smooth coverage without any mess. The formula glided on effortlessly, and the scent was pleasantly mild compared to other hair dyes I’ve tried. However, I found that using latex or rubber gloves would be a great addition, as it would make application easier. This was my only issue with the product.
Colour Payoff:
I used the shade 5/0 Cocoa Brown, and the result was a beautiful, rich colour that looked natural and vibrant. It delivered excellent grey coverage, blending seamlessly with my natural hair. The shade matched the swatch on the box perfectly, which is often a gamble with at-home dyes.
Longevity:
After several washes, the colour remained vibrant and true, showing minimal fading. I experienced no unusual dryness or damage, thanks to its nourishing ingredients that kept my hair feeling soft and healthy.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, Clairol Colour Studio Permanent Cream Colour is a fantastic option for anyone looking to achieve salon-quality results at home. It’s affordable, easy to use, and delivers impressive results. As a professional in the field, I highly recommend it for anyone seeking a reliable hair colour solution!
I nice at home hair dye
I can not remember which colour I chose to review but I think it was the coca brown choice.
I received a bowl with my hair but I didn't receive a brush to mix the colour with the developer. So I used a plastic fork to.mix and it worked okay. I had to add the hair colour with my hands as it didn't have a brush. It was hard and I ended up making a mess but lucky it did stain my sink, so that's a plus. I would have preferred the bottle with the nozzle applicator as that is what is comfortable to me.
I found the colour to be darker than my normal choice of colour which is medium brown but I still like the colour on me. I have started getting more greys now that I am in my early 40s and with this hair colour i had no issues, it cover all of my greys.
It had a smeel that was stronger then some of the dyes I have previously used but as long as you have a well ventilated area, you shouldn't have any issues.
I also didn't have any issues with the hair dye causing any allergic reactions. I didn't have any staining on my skin either.
I would definitely recommend the hair colour
A must try for at home hair colouring
Amazing!! This innovative new colour delivery system fills the gap in the at home hair colouring market! With new technology enabling sensitive scalps to be able to use colour is a game changer for many especially the darker colours! The new 3 step system offers colouring that leaves hair feeling healthy and revitalised. The grey coverage in this colour system is fantastic and two weeks on after using the he darkest colour in the range, I have had no fading and 100% grey coverage! The system itself is easy to use and at home DIY friendly, I would not hesitate to recommend to my friends and family and will be purchasing this product again in the future!
Clairol Creme
Rating My colouring experience for Clairol Colour Studio Permanent Creme colour.
First the consistency is perfect with no drippy moments, it’s very annoying when you do your own kit at home and it’s messy and getting all over your side face and even your floor. So I would say this has a really good hold as a creme colurant. The scent is not strong and empowering, no stingy feels within my scalp and eyes.it stay on your hair when applied. I have followed instructions and timed it really well. After results is 4 stars for me as the colour was under achieved. I have washed my hair for about 5 times and the colour is still ok without any regrowth signs. I think this will really last about 6 weeks , what I am very concerned now is will the grey coverage show after next week. My greys are really stubborn on the top thats why I need to get that very reliable product to cover the roots and at the same time coat the rest of my hair beautifully. But over all it’s a product that I can recommend in terms of sensitivity and product texture , scent and consistency .
Natural looking blonde
One thing I did really like about this dye was that it didn’t have a really overwhelming smell when I was applying it to my hair. I can get a very sensitive scalp at times too and have experienced a burning feeling with some other dyes, I didn’t have any of those feelings using this one.
It washed out really easily and my hair didn’t feel too course immediately after.
I also was pleasantly surprised when I dried and started to style my hair that I didn’t have that horrible overly yellow colour to my hair. It has given me a nice natural looking blonde.
My hair itself felt really nice after too. Not frizzy or overly damaged looking as I have had with other dyes. It looked pretty healthy and shiny.
Great at home hair dye experience
There is nothing that I didn't like about this product! I used the Clairol Colour Studio Permanent Cream in shade 5/3 in Caramel Brown. I felt like I'd given myself a salon quality colour at home.
Used with the Clairol Colour Studio Primer, my hair looked extra vibrant and smooth.
Being able to mix the colour meant little to no waste. I also felt that because I controlled how much product there was, I got a more even result because I wasn't just trying to use up everything in the bottle.
I (now) love applying hair colour with a brush. It also made it easier to ask my husband for help, as he could understand better how to apply it, and where I hadn't been able to reach.
I love the control I will have to be able to touch up my roots when needed.
The product neatly covered my greys which are predominately across the front of my hairline. I am excited to see how long the colour will maintain its quality. I'm at week 3 now and it's still looking great to me.
Bring a bowl!
I received this product to test as part of the Beauty Crew, and I must say I'm quite impressed. Now, I dye my hair a lot, and almost always you mix the 2 liquids in the applicator bottle, but not this one. The instructions do say that they can be mixed in an applicator bottle, however that doesn't come in the kit, so it does seem like an odd thing for them to mention. So you do need to mix the colour cream and the developer on a separate bowl and apply with your hands or a small brush, which is something to keep in mind. The product itself has a light inoffensive smell (unlike a lot of hair dyes) and applies easily to both the roots and the lengths of the hair. I found that it rinsed out quickly, and did leave a little staining on my scalp, but that is to be expected, and this wore off within about a day. The colour is amazing, and it definitely left my hair extremely shiny. It has been a week and I am not seeing any fading at all. I think I will keep this on my radar for future hair dye purchases.
Excellent quality home hair colour!
I regularly colour my hair at home and having quite resistant, grey hair, I am always on the lookout for a hair colour that is long-lasting and gives a vibrant result. I was thrilled with the result I received using this Clairol Colour Studio Permanent Cream Colour. This product was super-easy to use, with easy-to-follow instructions, and it had a great consistency as well, which made it very easy to apply without being too runny, as some hair colours can be. The end result was excellent! The colour completely covered my grey hair, and has lasted, as it looks like I have freshly coloured my hair even now, a couple of weeks later! I would highly recommend this hair colour for a vibrant, professional-looking result that is so easy to achieve!
Covers greys perfectly
This clairol colour studio permanent hair colour cocoa brown is a nice golden colour, it has covered extremely well as I have thick wavy hair and usually use 2 boxes but it spreads easily and it doesn't smell too much, it wasn't over bearing which is great with hair colour and the results are great. I left it in for 45 minutes to make sure it took to the grey hair and it did well, it comes in a good size package and easy to tell what colour it is as a good big picture on the front you can't miss, not a bad price for the product too, hopefully it lasts as long as the box says and I'll be 100% happy with this Clairol colour
I have been given this product to test and to give my honest reviews
Trial Team Review
I was lucky enough to receive this at-home hair colour as a part of the Beauty Crew Trial Team. This was actually the first permanent colour I've used in my hair for probably a year, having switched to semi-permanent previously to try avoid banding and damage to my hair; the trade-off there being my increasing number of pure white 'grey' hairs being quite hard to truly cover for more than a few weeks at a time. I received a mixing bowl and fantastic multi-functional tint brush along with the dye, which was a very pleasant surprise. The colour creme and developer mixed really quickly, easily, and smoothly and applied really nicely to the hair. I have thick, wavy, frizzy hair that's a 1-2 inches past my shoulders, so I ran into the same problem I always have in that the one packet was enough to fully coat my roots but not enough to apply through my mid-lengths and ends, so definitely worth keeping in mind if you have long or thick hair and are looking to do a full colour/refresh. The dye didn't have a strong or chemical smell and didn't cause any irritation on my scalp. The colour, although initially looking like it wasn't cool-toned enough on the box and not having enough product to cover my hair, still turned out quite nicely, blending in well without any obvious banding, and was very shiny and soft after using the treatment from the range prior to colouring.
An average product
Thank you to the Beauty Crew team for allowing me to review this product. I liked that the wording on the packaging is clear and concise and it comes in a a compact size. The product had easy to follow directions and I achieved a good colour result though I can’t say it was the best nor the worse hair colour product I have ever used. It did fail to cover a few stray greys however on the upside I’m glad to know this has protective features in it. I would consider this product perhaps in the future but only if it was half price.
My new favourite home hair colour!
I recently used the Clairol colour Studio Permanent Cream Colour - Cool Chai to refresh my hair color at home, and overall, I’m pretty happy with the results.
It was really easy to apply, very similar to most other brands that I have used previously. The box comes with clear instructions, gloves, and the dye components you need. I appreciated that the cream formula wasn’t too runny, which made it easier to apply without making a mess.
The color "Cool Chai" turned out beautifully - it is definitely well suited to my skin tone and it gave my hair a rich, warm tone with a natural-looking shine. It also covered my grays really well. My hair felt soft after the process and the color was true to the description on the box, which doesn’t always happen.
It’s been about 2 weeks since I applied the dye, and the color has held up really well so far. I didn’t notice any significant damage, but I’m always cautious about over-coloring. I also used a toner to help reduce some brassiness that I had from a previous colour.
For an affordable home dye kit, this Clairol product has delivered great results. I’ll definitely be using this again!
100% grey coverage
Thankyou Clairol and BeautyCrew for sending me the Clairol Colour Studio Permanent Colour Cream. I chose the colour Midnight Black (2/0). I was worried it would be a bluish black but its not. I have naturally dark brown hair which has been dyed black in the past and now I have the regrowth as well as a bit of grey. The box contains the 50ml bottle of developer cream, the 50ml tube of colour, a small 10ml sachet of Nourishing Treatment and a pair of bag type gloves. They also generously sent a mixing bowl. Luckily I already have an application brush to mix and apply. Apparently if you prefer to apply directly from the bottle you can choose to purchase that separately. I do prefer that method as I use the nozzle of the bottle to help with sectioning and I actually think it makes less mess, but I did it with the brush on this occasion.
I applied the colour after the pre-colour serum (separate review) before applying the mixture to my hair. I applied directly to my roots (for the regrowth) and let it sit for a good 30 to 40 minutes before attending to the lengths. 25 minutes is standard plus the additional 10 minutes for greys. It was not overly smelly and did not sting.
One pack would not have been enough for my past shoulder (but not quite shoulder blade hair) if this was my first time colouring, but luckily I was mainly treating my regrowth. If you are colouring for the first time and you have past your shoulder length hair, consider purchasing two packs.
I used the supplied Nourishing Treatment after shampoo and conditioner but the sachet was a little too small I think, an extra 5ml wouldn't go astray. I've washed my hair once since dying and the coverage of my greys is still 100%. The condition of my hair post colouring is fantastic, better than the previous brand I've used. I have used Clairol hair colour before but not this particular line.
I'm very happy with the results and would definitely purchase it again.
