CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser

This cleanser is marketed for marketed for rough, bumpy skin and keratosis pilaris. I was surprised to find that despite being labelled as a salicylic acid cleanser, this formula actually contains more gluconolactone (PHA) and niacinamide than salicylic acid. I've used Cerave's foaming cleanser, hydrating cleanser and the cream-to-form cleanser and have liked them, but this is my new favourite. This foams up really well like their foaming cleanser, but it is slightly more hydrating in comparison. It doesn't sting my eyes at all, and rinses off clean with my skin feeling soft and lightly hydrated. For someone like me who loves foaming cleansers but has skin prone to dehydration, this is just perfect. If you are scared off by the 'salicylic acid' name, don't be. Even though Cerave did not disclose the percentage with this cleanser, they did disclose the percentage for their newer blemish cleanser which has 2% salicylic acid. Judging by the order of the ingredients in the ingredients list, this one should have a much lower percentage. This really is super gentle, and as mentioned above, it has more PHA anyway, which is a very gentle acid. If you like Cerave's foaming cleanser, but just want a little bit of gentle exfoliating help, this is a wonderful option and great value for money. It comes in 236ml and 473ml. My bottle is manufactured in France and this review is based on that (newer bottles in the shops are now made in China).

When I first began using this, my skin had been familiar with glycolic acid (from Alpha H Liquid Gold), Benzac Ac (Acne spot treatment, and another acne prescription cream. I used this day and night when I began, and honestly it was a mistake. After a few days my skin felt tight, dry, and began peeling on the sides of my lips and I went through a bit of an acne breakout. Immediately I stopped using it for a few days, but I started using it again after that since it felt so smooth and therapeudic on my skin, however only use at night time. After this, my skin really loved it, and I've noticed (it's been about 5-6 months) firmer, smoother textured skin.

The CeraVe smoothing cleanser can be used for both your face and your body to help exfoliate and cleanse your skin. It is lightweight liquid that foams up really nicely and helps to remove any impurities on your face and body without leaving it stripped of its natural oils. I love that it's gentle but does a great job of leaving your skin feeling clean. I have rough skin on my arms and back and while I don't think it was the best at exfoliating my skin with the small amount of salicylic acid that it contained, I felt as though it helped to reduce blemishes. The pump format makes it easy to use in the shower and you don't need to use much of it so the product will last you awhile.

Feels nice going on the skin, after washing off your skin doesn’t feel dry or tight and it didn’t make my skin feel red or inflamed. Doesn’t have a pleasant smell or any smell really. But I didn’t see a real change in my skin after use

I used this product for around two weeks before writing this review. This product worked wonders on my dry skin. Within 2 or 3 days, I noticed a considerable improvement. Favourite part about this product was that I could use it on my whole body. I suffer from Keratosis pilaris, and while using this product, I did notice an improvement in my skin texture and hydration. You don't need much of this product as it goes a long way and foams up nicely. The cleaner was also gentle on my sensitive skin, and I didn't notice any irritation from using the product. I love the ingredients in this product, and this product fills a gap in the Australian market. I would defiantly recommend this product to anyone looking for a gentle cleanser for sensitive skin.

I enjoyed using this CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser every day as part of my regular beauty regime. It's more hydrating and gentle that my usual cleanser, non-abrasive and helped to even out the skin's surface. I felt like my face was brighter and skin more supple at the end of the trial, so I'd definitely continue using this product.

I trailed the CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser for just over 2 weeks now and I’m still on the fence! I have dry skin on and around my nose and on my chin, the cleanser does seem to have helped get rid of the dryness but I have had a few break outs in other areas. Will continue to use and see how it goes after a month!

I found the cleanser very gentle and effective. I have keratosis pilaris and this product helped reduce the amount of flare ups I had. However, it didnt get rid of them completely. Overall it is a good product. I can see how it would be effective for psoriasis or excema.

I found the CeraVe SA Smoothing Cleanser to be light, easy to apply and also easy to wash off. It left my skin feeling so much cleaner and softer than other cleansers I’ve used in the past! I have sensitive skin so this cleanser is perfect! It’s now a part of my daily skin care routine and I will be purchasing it regularly

This is a clever product. This product addresses multiple concerns and not just one which is useful and good. I don't really like the fragrance, and not sold on the scent. It is a good product as a body cleanser for shower use. There are rough bits to exfoliate your skin but it doesn't feel overly harsh which is also good.

I was really excited to try this cleanser as I get rough dry skin on my knees, elbows and the back of my arms get a mild case of keratosis pilaris. I use my exfoliating gloves with this. It’s quite gentle and doesn’t leave my skin feeling stripped of all moisture which is really lovely. I noticed an improvement after the first use. Overall I will continue to use this and really love it.

This cleanser foams really well with only a tiny amount of product, because of this the price bracket is great. It would last a really long time. It didn’t dry out my skin like most other products and left my skin feeling really fresh and soft. In the morning my skin still felt incredible compared to before use.

If you're not a fan of weird smells, don't try this. It has a really weird fragrance that surprised me considering it says odourless. But I just held my breath and went for it. I used this cleanser all over my body and face and wow! This product is great. I am really impressed, once I got over the smell. It lathered up nicely, no skin irritation, cleans make-up of the skin easily and didn't dry out my skin! My bf and his mum have also tried this out and they both are thoroughly impressed. I will definitely be adding this to my skin regime.

This gel cleanser works really well on my dry skin. It reduces my redness on my face and I don't fell the dryness after using it, I don't have he urge to apply moisturizer after using it. my skin still felt smooth and soft. Its also free of alcohol, fragrance and never triggers my allergically skin. I love this cleaners!

Firstly, I received this product as part of the Review Crew in conjuction with the Smoothing Cream. Prior to this product, I was using the CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser and I find that product perfect for my needs. Gentle and easy to clean off my skin, it works for summer and winter and preps for my skin for the next steps in my regime. Whilst I appreciate the inclusion of Saliylic Acid in the Smoothing Cream as the acid sits on your skin and has time to exfoliate your skin gently, I don't believe the SA in the Cleanser has enough time to make a noticeable difference as it gets washed off in seconds. For that reason, this is not a product that I would recommend and I would suggest one of the other cleansers in the CeraVe line-up as they do have a fantastic range. If you're interested however, the product has a gel-like substance and the pump makes it very easy to use. It lathers well and is very gentle on the skin. I have not tried it with heavy makeup but if it's anything like the Hydrating Cleanser, I do think you would want a separate make-up remover. Overall, I think if you're interested in the SA line, the Cream would be of more benefit than this cleanser as Salicylic Acid takes time to work on the skin and I don't believe a cleanser is a product you leave on your skin for long enough to have that effect.

A really great cleanser to start back at basics and minimise your skincare routine again. It still does foam- not too much though. Slight fragrance, and did not irritate my sensitive, dry skin at the moment.

I found this to be super helpful to my dry skin during Winter. I typically get flakiness on my T-zone so after testing this cleanser, it did reduce my dryness. I like the gentleness of the cleanser and it does not feel like my face is completely stripped of my natural oils.

This is a serious cleanser! I have used it on both my face and body, and found a deep clean without feeling tight or too stripping. I’ve used more expensive chemical exfoliation products and this definitely holds it own. The pump pack is an absolute dream and makes it so easy to apply. A little goes a long way so could bang for your buck.

I’ve been using the product for about 2 weeks. At first it seemed to work wonders on the dry patches on my skin I tend to get dry bumpy skin near my nose and flaky skin on my forehead. I wasn’t a fan of the smell but It was doing its job so I didn’t mind. However just over the one week mark I got a few small pimples on my forehead so seemed to go to from one extreme to the next. I don’t think using it for 2 weeks has really shown the try outcome so I will definitely keep using as my skin can take awhile to adjust to new products and at the 2 week mark seems to be getting better.

CeraVe Smoothing Cleanser is a next step to a must have for anyone with sensitive, dry, rough skin. I was quite surprised at the cleansing effect with an amazing balance moisturising result. I have always struggled with products making my skin worse (unfortunately the life of sensitive skin) I am a huge skeptic with cleansers because they're always drying my skin out. I had such a positive result with CeraVe, the best part, it can be used on your whole body too!!!! I suffer from dermatitis on my hands and it actually seemed to of helped calm my skin condition down. My skin was left tighter, revitalised, moisturised and smoother. The price is extremely fair for a product that has been perfected by dermatologists. I used this in my children's bath, and within 3 days ( following up with the CeraVe Smoothing Creme) their skin had no dry skin patches left, my son's arms had lost the bumps and no reactions from anyone. I would highly recommend this product as an all rounder, easy and effective cleanser that is necessary in any household whether they have sensitive skin or not. I can only see positive.
