Serena Williams’ daughter gate-crashing her skin care tutorial is the wholesome self-isolation content you need right now
Not all heroes wear capes – some just have lipstick-covered faces
Now, more than ever, is prime time for celebrities to be sharing their beauty and self-care routines on social media. Quarantine and self-imposed lockdowns foster the need to share, and share is exactly what tennis legend and superstar Serena Williams did. Well, tried to do at least.
Serena starts off her tutorial of an afternoon cleanse saying that, like most of us, she’s a little stressed right now and trying to find some calm.
(Side-note: cleansing in the afternoon is something I never even considered but now that WFH is status quo, I’m keen to get in on it).
Midway through getting a dollop of her favourite cleanser (MZ Skin Cleanse & Clarify) and explaining how very important it is to wash your hands properly before cleansing, she points out that her two-year-old daughter, Olympia Ohanian, is doing her makeup in the background. Cute. Innocent. Nothing to see here.
And then she notices just how busy Olympia has been.
Olympia then joins the party, face covered in lipstick, laughing sweetly like she doesn’t have a care in the world. And honestly, isn’t that how we all need to feel right now?
Serena decides to take a quick break from her skin care tutorial, before deciding she must persevere, saying, “I’m not even worrying about this situation.”
Alas, Olympia has other ideas.
And if this isn’t the face of an exasperate parent just trying to get through a beauty tutorial, I don’t know what is:
Serena finishes off her quick afternoon cleanse with Rachel's Plan Bee Facial Oil, because “I desperately need a plan b right now. I gotta go.”
And if that wasn’t cute enough, she finishes off cuddling her toddler while they both agree that she’s cute – lipstick all over her face and all.
It probably wasn’t the entertainment Serena planned for her followers, but goddammit it’s just what we all needed as break from all this coronavirus madness. We salute you, Olympia Ohanian.
