4 nighttime beauty hacks guaranteed to save you time
Tricks to help you hop into bed faster
At the end of a busy day, the last thing you want to spend your precious nighttime hours doing is fussing about with beauty routines.
So, here the Beauty Crew team shares their night-time hacks for getting the most efficient beauty results for maximum time in bed.
The one-step skin care routine
“I have so many steps in my regular nighttime routine that sometimes the mere thought of it EXHAUSTS me. So when I simply can’t resist my bed any longer and know that hitting the hay with makeup on is not an option, I turn to a micellar water, like the NIVEA Sensitive Caring Micellar Water. More than just a makeup remover, I know that if I use this time-saver-in-a-bottle my skin will be properly cleansed and nourished, and I don’t go to bed with that tight feeling in my skin. Sorry 1,400-step skin care routine.” – Carli Alman, Editor
The you-don’t-have-to-do-anything hair treatment
“As a not-so-natural blonde and an avid straightener, my hair needs all the nourishment it can get. My top trick? Hair oil. About once a month or when my ends start to get a bit crunchy, I generously slather it on to dry hair - focusing on mid-lengths to ends - before going to bed. Recently I’ve been using Kérastase Elixir Ultime Huile Oil. (Don’t forget to protect your pillow by covering it with a towel!). Then in the morning, simply wash and style as normal.” – Alex Noonan, Content Director
The mask and night cream in one
“In winter, my skin becomes horribly dry and my usual moisturiser just doesn’t cut it. So stepping into the cooler months I always swap my usual cream for an overnight mask – and trust me, you can spot the difference. I wash my face like usual, include all necessary products (cleanser, toner, serum, eye cream), and then slather on a mask. My personal favourite is Sisley Black Rose Cream Mask; it’s rich with anti-ageing products yet doesn’t feel clogging or heavy. But the best part? I wake up looking like I’ve just had the best sleep of my life - with dewy, glowing, bright-looking skin.” – Brittany Lane, Contributing News and Social Editor
The hand treatment you would otherwise skip
“Other than your face, your hands are notorious for showing signs of ageing and dehydration. And because I often forget to apply my hand cream during the day, I use my sleep time to rehydrate and nourish. To keep them in their best shape, I apply a few drops of rosehip oil onto my hands, and massage it in before I go to sleep – right after checking my Facebook feed, of course. If I don’t have any rosehip oil on hand, I use a double-dose of hand cream, and pop on a pair of cotton gloves overnight for a similar effect.” – Iantha Yu, Beauty Editor
