We first saw them in the K-beauty space, with Korean skin care brands like COSRX, Mizon and Propolis bringing out the baby-sized serums, and now they’re absolutely everywhere.

What makes ampoules a must-have in your skin care line-up is their ability to target a particular skin concern, such as improving elasticity, reducing fine lines or brightening your complexion. We know what you’re thinking - isn’t that what a serum does? Sure, but the texture of what’s inside an ampoule has less viscosity, and therefore can be absorbed by skin more quickly.

They're also a cinch to use; all you need to do is twist it open, distribute a few drops into your hands, and massage the solution in. As for the order of applying it in your skin care routine, it goes on after your cleanser and toner, and before your regular serum, lotion or moisturiser.
