MECCA’s best moisturiser has been crowned for 2022

Every year we wait with bated breath for the winners of MECCA’s Beauty Election to be announced. And with 2022’s results revealed right on the cusp of winter, our eyes went straight to ‘Best Moisturiser’. 

Drum roll, please… Drunk Elephant’s Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream ($90 at MECCA) has taken the crown! Cue: applause.

Now, this isn’t a total surprise because we (and many others) love Drunk Elephant. And the Lala Retro™ Whipped Cream is one of those excellent moisturisers that has a thick, creamy ‘feels good’ texture, without a leftover greasy afterfeel.

But what is a surprise is that it beat out cult-favourite and multi-time winner Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream ($102 at MECCA). Never heard of it? Read our beauty editor’s love letter and weep.

On the plus side, the new top dog moisturiser will save you $12 compared to the Tatcha one. And the J-Beauty brand didn't miss out on an accolade altogether. So really, we’re all winners.
