The mascaras celebrities actually use (and love)

Kim Kardashian has been blessed with some beautiful lashes, but that doesn’t mean she doesn’t have the right to improve on perfection. Her makeup artist Ash Kholm recently revealed to a curious fan the exact mascara she uses to amp up Kardashian’s naturally plush-looking lashes. “You guys won’t even believe me, but we just curled with the Surratt curler and used [Lancôme Hypnôse Doll Eyes Mascara] ($62 at Lancôme). Two coats!! No individuals today.”

Suki Waterhouse told Fashionista that she doesn’t mind a bit of drugstore mascara during the day – Pixi Lash Booster Mascara ($24 at OZ Hair & Beauty) is her go-to. But she also confessed that she hasn’t been able to find “a luxury mascara better than M.A.C Cosmetics Magic Extension Mascara ($44 at M.A.C Cosmetics)”. According to Waterhouse, it gives you a “full, crazy lash” effect. “You can just keep putting on,” she said. “And your lashes, like, nearly come out to your nose.” Impressive.

While Ramakrishnan's holy grail lash product may not technically be a mascara, it’s something she considers a game-changer. “I discovered [KVD BEAUTY Epic Curl Vegan Eyes Lash Primer] ($33 at Sephora) by accident,” the Never Have I Ever actress explained to VOGUE. “I thought it was mascara, it was not. It curls your lash, and does half of the work that an eyelash curler does.”

When it comes to Sydney Sweeney’s lashes, the Euphoria actress amps up the drama using an old favourite: Maybelline Great Lash Volumizing Mascara (was $12.95 now $7.77 at Big W).

“[It’s] a really cheap mascara,” Sweeney told The Cut. “It’s $5 [USD], and I have used it my entire life. I have sensitive eyes, and they tend to get really red with most mascaras, but not with this one. I go for the brownish-black color.” 

ScarJo fell in love with MAX FACTOR Masterpiece High Definition Mascara ($24.95 at Priceline) thanks to a recommendation from celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath. The mother of makeup let the actress in on an industry secret that she’s stuck by ever since; “if you use any Max Factor mascara, it’s the same as all of those super-expensive ones,” Johanssen told WWW. “I’m lucky I have long lashes, but they’re straight and they’re very fine, so the most important thing to me is to use lash curlers and then find a mascara that holds the curl,” Chan explained to Allure. “I use [Maybelline Falsies Volumizing False Lash Effect Waterproof Mascara] ($16.49 at Chemist Warehouse), the one in the purple tube. I use the waterproof version, so it really holds the curl.” 

“Here’s my secret, though: I use the brush from an old Maybelline mascara, the Define-A-Lash formula. It works perfectly to separate and coat every single lash.”

According to her Vogue Beauty Secrets tutorial, Stella Maxwell is firmly in the ‘more is more’ camp when it comes to her favourite mascara – Pat McGrath Labs FetishEyes Mascara ($49 at Sephora). 

“I like to do a couple layers of mascara, I think you can never have enough mascara. It’s about layering it and the clumps are kinda badass.”

“Lancôme, you did something there. This is the one thing I will not leave the house without. I go to the gym with mascara.” 

If you thought that Barbie Ferreira was just going to deliver a regular mascara recommendation, then you better think again. 

The Euphoria actress loves using a tube of Maybelline Great Lash Volumizing Waterproof Mascara in ‘Very Black’ ($10.99 at Chemist Warehouse), for another job entirely. “[I] put on good old mascara on the brow, and if I want a little less mascara, I have a clean spoolie and I brush them up [and] blend it out,” the actress and model explained to Allure.
