The 8 most popular beauty product launches of 2016

We’ve lost count of the number of new releases Kylie Jenner launched this year, however none were as popular as her famed Lip Kits. So much so that back in March the Kylie Cosmetics site was so overloaded with people scrambling to get their hands on a Lip Kit (over 200,000 users at any one time), Google Analytics actually broke! If that’s not mass viral demand, then we don’t know what is.

Yes, she made the list twice. While the youngest Jenner is famed for her plump lips, her matte eyeshadow looks are also adored by her legions of fans who attempt to recreate her go-to look on a daily basis. As a result, when KJ released her first Kyshadow palette, the Internet lost its marbles. Not only was Kylie’s bronze Kyshadow palette a sell-out, it actually sold out in under a minute, which was quicker than her Lip Kits.

When you think of hair tools, Dyson isn’t exactly the first brand that comes to mind. However, midway through this year the vacuum cleaner company launched its first hair dryer that promised to dry hair without causing any damage and features a motor that is near silent. It has been a massive success, even with a $599 price tag!

When it was announced that Estée Lauder and Victoria Beckham had collaborated on a makeup collection that included a range of classic products like a six-shade eyeshadow palette and a Morning Aura Illuminating Crème, it’s fair to say we were a tad excited. It seems we weren’t alone as many beauty fanatics struggled to get their hands on the collection. Luckily it has been restocked and it still available online.

So you can imagine the hype when the two beauty moguls came together to create the Anastasia Beverly Hills Master Palette by Mario. Not only has the palette been flying off the shelves, top makeup artists from all around the world have been sharing their love for the neutral palette that features Kim Kardashian inspired shades.

We love it when beauty brands and products are able to make a social statement that encourages diversity and acceptance, and we love it even more when those brands and products raise money for a great cause. With the MAC Caitlyn Jenner Finally Free Lipstick launch, both instances took place as the release was Jenner’s first foray into the beauty world and 100 per cent of the proceeds went to MAC AIDS Fund Transgender Initiative.

Although the shower jellies were originally launched several years ago, Instagram jumped on the wobbly shower gel bandwagon in a big way in 2016. Just this year the brand has sold 350,000 jellies and a slow motion Facebook video of the product wobbling has been watched over 29 million times!
