The standout makeup trends from the 2017 SAG Awards
And you’ll want to try them all
The 23rd Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards red carpet wasn’t just brimming with stunning hair and makeup looks that branched out from the traditional nude lip and neutral smoky eye, it also revealed three trends we’re predicting will be huge this season. So if you’re looking to up the ante on your makeup game, take your lead from these celeb-inspired trends.
#1 / Pink eyeshadow
Colourful eyeshadow has been having a pink moment the last few months. We last saw it on the red carpets of the Billboard and Tony Awards in 2016, and it returned with a vengeance at the SAG Awards, with actresses Salma Hayek, Janelle Monae and Sophia Bush all experimenting with the feminine colour. While Salma and Janelle opted for a more wearable soft shade in a shimmery finish, Sophia went all out with a a show-stopping hot pink. If Sophia’s dramatic and shimmery smoky eye is a tad too intense for you but you like the idea of a bold colour, try a hot pink eyeliner on your bottom waterline or apply a soft wash of the shade over your lids. However you wear your pink, make sure to finish with a lash defining mascara to frame your eyes.
#2 / Dramatic lashes
Long fluttery lashes will always be one of our top beauty goals, but the latest trend takes them to the next level. The bigger, the better this season. Not just a popular choice at this year’s SAG Awards, with The Crown actress Claire Foy and Modern Family stars Sofia Vergara and Ariel Winter all sporting the look, we also saw lashes aplenty at the People’s Choice Awards and Golden Globes on the likes of Jennifer Lopez, Blake Lively, Lily Collins and Priyanka Chopra.
If your natural lashes aren’t quite up to the task of mimicking these celebs’ supersized lashes, pick up some showstopping false lashes to copy the look. Revlon Volumize Lashes V21, shu uemura natural volume false eyelashes and Ardell Fashion Lashes Accents 301 are all winners.
#3 / Red lips
We will never grow tired of a bright red lipstick! The shade of the moment is more orange-based than your classic true red, as is proof by the colour of choice seen on The People v. OJ Simpson actress Sarah Paulson, Kirsten Dunst, and Game of Thrones actress Sophie Turner. And the best complement to this look? Flawless skin, natural brows and defined lashes. All three ladies nailed it!
