Madelyn Cline never leaves home without these 6 handbag essentials
There are two different kinds of beauty products: the ones you love, and the ones you love (and rely on) so much that you simply must carry them on you at all times. For Outer Banks/Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery star Madelyn Cline, there are six standouts that she has to have in her trusty handbag wherever she goes. And she just revealed them all in a Refinery29 'What's In My Bag' video.
It’s worth noting that this is no mini Jacquemus situation – Cline carries a sturdy (but devastatingly chic) Hermès black leather bag that fits a fair amount of stuff. “There is quite a bit of room in here,” she noted as she unpacked it. Now onto the beauty buys she fills all that room with…
Madelyn Cline's handbag beauty essentials
Texture spray
One of the biggest beauty buys Cline totes around is all about texture; makes sense considering her hair always looks perfectly tousled. The actress carries the Starring by Ted Gibson Shooting Star Texture Spray (approx. $73 AUD at Starring by Ted Gibson) for a little lift. “I have super fine hair [so I like a] little mousse foam. It gives me a little bit of lift and volume because my hair just likes to lay down," she shared. Relatable.
Foundation and concealer
Cline also likes to bring a little coverage kit with her for any midday touch-ups. “[I carry] my makeup on the go, a little pimple cover. You never know when you’re going to meet someone for a last-minute coffee," she explained. Her foundation and concealer combo of choice? The NARS Light Reflecting Foundation ($73 at MECCA) and the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer ($46 at MECCA).
Fragrance
She may not be scoring major points in the originality column for this one (it's a cult-classic scent worldwide), but the fact that she keeps a bottle of Maison Francis Kurkdjian Baccarat Rouge 540 Eau de Parfum ($207 for 35ml at MECCA) on-hand proves that Cline definitely has incredible taste. She knows we all know the magic of this dreamy jasmine, saffron and amber scent, so she kept her explanation succinct: “Obviously my favourite perfume. It smells so nice. It’s the best.”
Nail polish
Cline's caveat for this next item? It's not always with her. “I don’t normally keep nail polish in my bag but I had a swimming acrylic nail accident where my hand hit the wall and my nail went one way and you know, the rest is history," she laughed regarding the nail polish's temporary presence in her purse. "On the ride here, I was painting my nails, which if anybody knows L.A. roads, they’re not the most forgiving when it comes to nail polish, so I did my best.” For the record her DIY manicure still looked fabulous, and we're happy to know her signature shade: OPI Nail Lacquer in 'It's A Girl' ($14.99 at Chemist Warehouse).
Lip oil
Last but not least? A lip oil. While many (seriously, so many) celebs tend to rely on a Laneige Lip Sleep Mask as part of their handbag stash, Cline prefers a silkier formula for her famous pout. “Of course, lip oil," she said, revealing her fave as the Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte's Magic Lip Oil Crystal Elixir ($56 at Charlotte Tilbury). "I can’t stand dry lips and the air is quite dry out here. My skin is very sensitive, including my lips, so [this is] necessary." Necessary and delightful!
