Madeline Argy's flawless skin is the work of snail mucin
She joins Em Rata as a fan of the ingredient
Move over niacinamide, there’s a new hero hydrator on the scene; snail mucin. While this may not be news to some, the viral ingredient is taking the skin care world by storm. So much so that many celebrities have even jumped on the snail bandwagon.
Known to calm, repair and hydrate the skin, the ingredient is loved by the likes of Emily Ratajokwski and Drew Barrymore who, more specifically, are both fans of the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence.
Recently, TikTok star Madeline Argy has joined in on the hype. Known for her off-the-cuff storytime videos, it’s no secret that the 23-year-old has some seriously flawless skin. As such, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that her natural glow is a result of the famed ingredient.
In a recent post, she shared the true extent of her love for the product.
Dressed in loungewear and sporting a particularly glowy sheen on her face, she told her followers: “When I tell you I snail-mucined every last square inch of my flesh this evening, I want you to take that with not a singular grain of salt, okay?”
"There are urgent things in my inbox - I will tend to those in the morning. Deepest and sincerest apologies, alright? But I am busy.”
This dedication to skin care is, frankly, unmatched. And we’re all here for it! But what is it about this product that makes it ditch-urgent-emails-worthy?
The famed K-beauty ingredient is, you guessed it, the product of snail secretion. While this may be alarming to some, it isn’t as alarming (or gross) as people may think.
Regarded as a multivitamin for the face, the unconventional essence is made up of naturally-occurring goodies like hyaluronic acid, glycolic acid and zinc which work to hydrate, brighten tone and even texture. As such, the product is suited to a number of different skin types - from oily to dry. It’s no wonder Argy swears by it!
