Find out what she does to achieve her stunning figure
Do you know what’s almost as famous as Kim Kardashian? Kim Kardashian’s body. It’s so iconic it almost broke the Internet in 2014 (thanks to that famous PAPER magazine Insta post), and Kim even took an actual mould of her own body and made it into a KKW fragrance bottle (yep – those Kardashian’s don’t do things by halves).
If you follow Kim on Instagram, you’ll know from her daily stories that she actually works MEGA hard to maintain that figure.
Chances are you’ve also noticed these gym updates feature another woman: Kim’s personal trainer and female body builder Melissa Alcantara.
Kim praises Alcantara for changing her figure after *those* bikini paparazzi shots that made headlines in 2017: “I definitely was not in my best shape, I hadn't worked out in 12 weeks, I'd had two surgeries on my uterus, so I was already not feeling like myself," Kim shared during an interview on The View.
In an Instagram snap Kim shared of her stunning bikini body, she wrote: “Shout out to my trainer @fitgurlmel who really changed my body.”
"When I wasn't happy with what I saw back in the mirror I spent a whole year training so hard 5 or 6 days a week putting in a lot of work and changed the way that I eat.”
“There’s such a noticeable difference. I am firm and less cellulite and so much more confident.”
"SO THANK YOU for waking up at 5am to do crazy body building workouts & sprints that I hate & putting me on to this lifestyle."
Kim Kardashian's exercise and diet plan
If you’re wondering what Kim Kardashian’s diet and weight loss plan looks like, it seems it involves a lot of early mornings. According to Alcantara, they work out six days a week together, for an hour to an hour and a half each session, and up to an hour and 45 minutes on leg and butt days – yep, commitment!
In an interview with Women’s Health US, Alcantara says, “Her schedule is crazy, and mine is also crazy, so we work out really early in the morning at 6am”.
“It’s just her drive," the celebrity trainer explains. "She knows what she wants, and she has to fit it in. She's like ‘I have to work out, this is part of my life’, it’s all about the mindset.”
“Once it’s part of your daily routine and your life, then it’s not something you have to think about, you just have to do it,” says Alcantara.
“She loves taking her kids to school. She’s a badass mom," says Alcantara. “She’s super responsible, she never cancels - she’s the best client and athlete you can have.”
Diet and exercise go hand in hand, so you’re going to bet Alcantara has a huge role to play in helping Kim stick to her weight loss diet and goals.
In an interview with E Australia, Alcantara says she went over to the Kardashian West household and purged the pantry of processed, sweet and unhealthy foods. "Vanilla wafers, graham crackers and rice crispy treats” were all tossed!
What does Kim Kardashian eat in a day?
While you’d be forgiven that thinking a Kardashian diet is made up of skinny teas, diet pills or Flat Tummy Co. smoothies, it may surprise you to know that Kim’s diet simply consists of fresh, healthy foods.
While she’s previously talked of her success with following the Atkins diet, in recent years Kim has turned to the ketogenic diet (also known as the keto diet), which involves cutting down carbs and processed foods, and eating lots of good fats and fresh vegetables.
Alcantara told People that she recommends Kim only eat "real food that's cooked (fresh) every day". Processed foods like biscuits, bread, rice crackers, sauces and even salad dressing are strictly off limits. "Most likely if it comes out of a box, it’s not going to be good for you.”
To kick start the day, Alcantara told People that the reality star eats blueberry oatmeal pancakes: “Kim loves them!”.
As for lunch, it’s all about protein and healthy carbs such as chicken, sweet potatoes and veggies.
For dinner, Kim will usually opt for fish and vegetables. “Kim told me the other day, ‘This is the most vegetables I’ve ever eaten!’” says Alcantara.
On her former app, Kim wrote, “My trainer Mel always says that before and after you train, you should eat simple carbs, like sweet potatoes, and small amounts of fat and protein, like chicken. You should also have veggies with your meals, since you need them to help effectively break down and absorb your protein, fat and carbs.”
