Kendall Jenner closed Schiaparelli in a dress made of fingernails
We promise, it’s not as gross as it sounds
Usually when BEAUTYcrew reports on celebrity nail looks it’s with the intention of giving our readers an up close and personal look at the digits of the rich and famous.
However, on this occasion we’re not showing off the handiwork of a celebrity nail artist, but rather the intriguing work of haute couture label Schiaparelli.
The Roman heritage luxury fashion house is responsible for outlandish designs such as the lion's head gown Kylie Jenner wore to the Schiaparelli Couture show earlier this year.
Although, the brand’s ready-to-wear SS24 runway collection featured glam by industry greats (Nail Designer Cam Tran, Makeup Artist Pat McGrath and Hair Stylist Guido Palau), the most striking beauty moment on the runway was catalysed by the brand’s designer.
Schiaparelli Creative Director Daniel Rosebery elected model Kendall Jenner to close the show at the Italian Embassy in Paris — in a strapless dress constructed entirely from red lacquered acrylic fingernails.
According to the brand’s Instagram, the dress was fully lined in stretch tulle, which was then embroidered with trompe l’œil red nails and sequins, and the look also featured a pair of nude leather pumps with trompe l’œil toes.
According to Rosebery, the couture house wanted to create something unique by attempting to marry the avant-garde with the everyday in this ready-to-wear collection, and from this idea, an ode to the most iconic nail polish colour of all time was created.
“As we have to understand today, two things can be true at once. And so we have Schiaparelli Ready-to-Wear,” he said via Schiaparelli’s Instagram. “Is it for the everyday and should it be, dare I say, “easy”? Yes. But does it also need to cause a sensation, to inspire someone to walk across a room, to be an extraordinary echo of some of our best work in the couture? Yes.”

Kendall Jenner isn’t the only member of her family pushing the envelope in the name of fashion. Kim Kardashian looks unrecognisable with a buzzcut in her latest photoshoot.
Briar Clark got her start in the media industry in 2017, as an intern for Marie Claire and InStyle. Since then, her keen interest in fashion and beauty has landed her gigs as a Digital Content Producer and Beauty Editor with titles like Girlfriend, Refinery29, BEAUTYcrew and beautyheaven. She loves the way seemingly innocuous topics like skin care and style have the ability to put a smile on people’s faces or make them think about themselves a little differently. A big believer in self love and experimentation, Briar has made a point of becoming the Australian beauty industry’s unofficial guinea pig for unusual treatments and daring hair trends. When she’s not testing out the latest beauty launches, Briar is big on broadening her horizons, mostly in the form of food but she’s also partial to travelling to new destinations both near and far (and of course, allocating an extra bag to bring their best beauty offerings home with her).
