3 Aussie women tried the Jergens Melanin Glow Illuminating Moisturiser, and here’s what happened…
“Who doesn't want a nice glow whilst nourishing the skin?”
‘Glow’ has long been the word on all beauty lovers’ lips. If every inch of us isn’t glossed to the nines, something feels seriously off. But of course, if we’re going about drawing all that illuminated attention to our skin, we want it to be looking and feeling as hydrated, soft, and even as possible.
That’s where the Jergens Melanin Glow Illuminating Moisturiser ($15.99 at Priceline) can help. Featuring a deliciously decadent blend of cocoa and shea butters, the formula treats skin to long-lasting moisture and instant illumination, thanks to the presence of bronze or gold luminisers (depending on your chosen shade) which give skin that glow we’re all chasing.
For the record, the product was designed with women with a higher concentration of melanin in mind (which we love to see!), but it also offers a ‘glow for all’ that accentuates any natural skin tone. After all, considering Jergens is a brand with long-standing and trusted heritage, it’s no surprise they thought of everyone. Their luxe-for-less approach also ensures the formulas (no matter how lush they feel and how incredible the results may be) are ones you can comfortably afford to restock price wise - they’re only $15.99 at Priceline after all. And we appreciate that!
We weren’t the only ones who did, either - we had 3 trusty BEAUTYcrew readers put the product to the test to find out just how hydrating and illuminating it really was. Here’s what three Aussie women loved most about the Jergens Melanin Glow Illuminating Moisturiser…
1: They loved the… multipurpose, skin-nurturing nature
The word ‘moisturiser’ may be in the name, but the product offers more than just hydration - though it’s worth noting the hydrating benefits were in fact raved about. “I really enjoyed using the product, it hydrates and nourishes my skin making my skin supple and soft”, Sakina shared of her experience testing out the trusty hydrator. Flora was also a fan: “The product was lovely, it smelt nice, lightweight and the sparkle was subtle. There were hints of gold sparkle, ideal for a natural look. I think this product will be awesome in summer! It gave my skin a nice subtle glow and I felt hydrated.” Yep, the product serves many purposes, as Cheng discovered. “I quite enjoyed using the product on days when I want to even out my body skin tone a little bit and add a hint of shimmer”, she added. “The texture wasn't heavy, it was easy to apply, and a little goes a long way. It's a multipurpose product for me, acting as moisturiser, fragrance, and light body makeup.”
2: They loved the… dreamy texture and fresh scent
Not every product that offers the hydrating, illuminating benefits you’re looking for is a delight to apply, but luckily, the Jergens Melanin Glow Illuminating Moisturiser was just that - particularly in the ‘scent’ and ‘texture’ departments. “I really enjoyed the scent of the product which is a good thing because the scent would stay on my clothing until laundry day”, Cheng noted of its longevity. Sakina shouted out the elements that made up the product’s silky feel: “I love the ingredients - shea butter and cocoa butter which absorb into my skin without leaving it greasy.” She also mentioned that she loved “the subtle scent” as it “smells fresh”. Flora was in full agreement, confirming that she “liked the texture and scent”. As for the aroma itself, Cheng summed up that it “automatically makes me think of summer and a beach holiday.”
3: They loved the… tone-enhancing, skin-illuminating results
The texture, scent, and multipurpose nature caught the group’s attention, though they admitted they were specifically interested in discovering the formula’s tone-enhancing potential. And they were impressed! “I really love that the company thought of creating a product for dark skin which most companies don’t cater for”, explained Sakina. “The product made my skin look so pretty. I love the glow I get after using this product”. As for the tone-enhancing results the women experienced, Cheng noted that “the product evened out my skin tone and added a subtle warmth and glow.” She also enjoyed the mess-free nature of the product, and how easy it was to use. “The product intrigued me because I don't self-tan, but I like the idea of a moisturiser with built in glow and shimmer for when you're going out and showing a little skin”, she said. “It's easy to wash off at the end of the night without leaving traces of residue everywhere.” Overall, Flora summed the group’s thoughts up well with her closing statement: “who doesn't want a nice glow whilst nourishing the skin?”
