The exact products you need to get J.Lo’s People’s Choice Awards makeup
And the techniques her makeup artist used
In typical red carpet fashion for the singer and actress, Jennifer Lopez showed off a stunning makeup look at the People’s Choice Awards. So when J.Lo’s makeup artist, Mary Phillips revealed on her Instagram account all the products and techniques she used to create the incredible look, we were excited to see that most of the products are actually completely affordable (which is not always the case in the world of celebrity beauty routines – take Kim Kardashian’s $1,395 skin care routine for example!). Here are the exact products Phillips used to create J.Lo’s look and how to get the technique down pat:
#1 Base
Phillips used a technique of blending multiple foundation shades together to create a flawless base; “I like to use varying shades, it gives the most realistic effect for sexy, healthy 3D skin,” she says. She credits L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Cushion Foundation in C5.5 Natural Tan, 5.5 Perfect Beige and W3 Nude Beige.Phillips combined these with L’Oreal Infallible Pro Matte Finish in Golden Beige, because “it gives a great matte contrast to the Lumi foundations”.
For concealer, Phillips used Lancôme Effacernes Waterproof Protective Concealer, “for a waterproof concealer, this [one] is highly moisturising.”
#2 Contour
Phillips used L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Contour Kit in 814 Medium, with Giorgio Armani Maestro Bronzer in 90 Sun Glow.
For J.Lo’s blush and highlighter combo, Phillips used L’Oreal True Match Blush in Tender Rose and Innocent Flush, which she finds work really well together. For Jennifer’s incredible highlight she used Giorgio Armani Prima Glow Moisturizing Balm, “[which was] applied with a blush brush, and then patted any remaining product in by gently pressing with my fingers”.
#3 Eyes
Phillips used L’Oreal Color Riche La Palette Nude 1 over the eyelids, with Yves Saint Laurent Eye Duo Smoker Eyeshadow in Smokey Burgundy, which she says “added a strength to the eye without being overpowering.”
The eyeliner she used was L’Oreal Paris Infallible Black Velvet Liner (which is currently not available in Australia, we recommend L'Oréal Paris SuperLiner Smokissime), which she applied to the top and bottom lash line and inside the inner rims. L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Superstar Mascara was paired with Lancôme Le Curler (which is also not available, we recommend Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler) to finish off the look with Jennifer’s signature huge, dramatic lashes.
