James Charles slid into the DMs of celebrities to ask them for their makeup recommendations
Rihanna, Shay Mitchell and Kim Kardashian all got back to him
Beauty vlogger James Charles is known for producing some rather out-of-the-box content for his YouTube channel. For his latest video, DMing Celebrities To Pick My Makeup, the social media star took to Instagram to slide into the DMs of some very famous celebrities.
James hit up stars like Rihanna, Millie Bobby Brown and, of course, a couple of members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan, to ask them for their makeup product recommendations. He then used their product picks to create a full makeup look.
He gave each of the celebs he reached out to a different makeup category. Unfortunately, not everyone replied (we’re looking at you Bella Hadid and Shawn Mendes), but thankfully everyone’s favourite bad gal Rihanna came through with a solid foundation recommendation: Fenty Pro’Filtr Foundation, naturally!
Zara Larsson was up next with her favourite concealer: “Makeup Forever’s Full Cover Extreme Camouflage”. She confessed she loves the concealer because it makes her skin look flawless, “hahaha WHAT FLAWS?! I have a lot of red marks from acne and I get black rings under my eyes [be]cause I never sleep.”
Millie Bobby Brown replied with her blush recommendation – literally anything from Charlotte Tilbury. So, James picked up a compact of Charlotte Tilbury Cheek To Chic –he did admit he wasn’t a huge fan of the shade range, but settled on ‘Love Is The Drug’.
When James asked Kim Kardashian what eyeshadow palette she would recommend, she replied, “DUH one of mine”, telling him to use her latest palette ‘So Fire’, which features a collection of warm browns, burnt oranges, and plummy purples.
No surprise that James chose to quiz Kylie Jenner on her lip product pick, to which she insisted on personally sending James her favourites: a Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kit in Snow Way Bae, a Kylie Cosmetics Lip Liner in Coconut, and a Kylie Cosmetics Lipgloss in the shade Snatched.
James finished off the look with Shay Mitchell’s favourite setting spray, Morphe Continuous Setting Mist.
Honestly, these celebs came through with some pretty decent recommendations because the final makeup look isn't that bad. Check it out the full tutorial for yourself below:
