Jaclyn Hill claps back at her haters with a totally unexpected ‘cancel culture’ Halloween costume
But the Internet has stern words for her
2019 hasn’t been an easy year for beauty influencer Jaclyn Hill. Following the launch of her Jaclyn Hill Cosmetics lipstick collection, it emerged that the range was contaminated with… well, we’re still not entirely sure.
In the wake of the scandal, Jaclyn was called out on social media for the problematic lipstick collection with some buyers even claiming the lipsticks had caused them health issues including infected and swollen lips. Since then, Jaclyn has been ‘cancelled’ many times – a term which means someone should be entirely boycotted.
Now, Jaclyn has clapped back at her haters presenting an extravagant cancel culture-inspired Halloween costume emblazoned with the words “JACLYN HILL CANCELED” and “SHE’S CANCELED.” It also features a dramatic bloody slash across her face.
Subtle.
“Over the last several years the internet has become more & more cruel & has developed what we now call ‘cancel culture’ not one day has gone by in over 2 years where I have not seen “you’re cancelled” online,” Jaclyn wrote in her Instagram post.
“I wanted to create a look showing the glam side of this industry & the ugly💀So here is it. You want me cancelled? You got it baby. And I know my “haters” are going to HATE this costume. But that’s okay, I love you anyway💋”.
But, the Internet was totally unimpressed, viewing Jaclyn’s costume as a flippant response to her being called out on her problematic lipstick collection.
Following the backlash, Jaclyn addressed outrage in a Twitter comment saying: "This costume has NOTHING to do with my fans or customers. It has to do with ‘cancel culture’ that has become so popular. I adore my subscribers & they know that!”
Did Jaclyn just cancel herself once and for all?
