From the skin care steps to her makeup
From the skin care steps to her makeup
If there was ever a perfect makeup pairing, it would be glowing skin and a bright red lip. This makeup look Karlie Kloss wore at the David Jones Fashion Show when she was in town recently is proof. We asked makeup guru Napoleon Perdis exactly how he created this gorgeous look on the model, from the skin care steps to the exact lipstick shade he used.
1
Cleanse
Begin with a deep cleanse, using a nourishing cleansing oil. We like Dior Instant Cleansing Oil.
2
Prep
Plump and perfect skin with a serum. Massage it in with fingertips or a complexion brush. We recommend Nude by Nature Miracle Serum.
3
Prime
Follow the motto: “Not to prime is a crime!” Smooth the surface with a radiance-boosting primer to help makeup last the distance. For bright eyes, smooth the under-eye area with a concealer primer - we like Estée Lauder Illuminating Perfecting Primer.
4
Base
Even out skin tone by blending a serum foundation (we like Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation) over the “feature focus” area of your face. Banish fatigue with a concealer, targeting dark areas. Wait for it to absorb, then use warm fingertips to melt concealer into the skin. Smooth and set the hot spots of the face with a powder foundation.
5
Cheeks
Illuminate and tone skin with a shade of contour to match your complexion, sweeping over the top of the cheekbones, the bridge of the nose and on the Cupid’s bow. Follow with a deeper contour tone over the cheekbones. Our pick: Rimmel London Kate Sculpting Palette.
6
Eyes
Keep eyes minimal and fresh by pressing Napoleon Perdis Loose Eye Dust in Mosaic Gold onto the inner corner of the eye. Subtly define the eye with a light sweep of colour along the lower lash line.
7
Brows & lashes
Define brows and set in place with a brow mascara (we love L’Oréal Paris Brow Artist Plumper). Extend lashes and add lustre with black mascara. Wait for them to dry and then curl with an eyelash curler for extra hold.
8
Lips
Use a matte red shade and highlight a statement lip. Line lips last and seal with a lip pencil; copy Karlie’s look with Napoleon Perdis Lip Pencil in Rococo Red.
