Including the three most common places we forget to apply bronzer
If you’re after that illustrious sun-kissed glow (but are still transitioning from your pasty winter skin tone into a summer-induced shade), call upon your bronzer to get the job done. To learn how to nail a trans-seasonal faux glow, we asked Angelique Hogan, Training Manager for Sephora Australia, to share her top four bronzer tips for glimmering skin. No sun required.
1
Find your skin tone
“Getting the right shade of bronzer can be the trickiest part. Your perfect shade needs to match the overtone of your skin,” Hogan says. Think of the colour of your skin when you’re in the sun. “Look at your décolletage. There is usually a slight airbrushed tone to the skin here – this is your overtone and your bronzer should match this colour,” she adds.
2
Know your skin type
This is essential for picking the right formula. For oily skin, try a bronzing powder, which will help mattify the surface. For dry skin, creams or fluids will be more flattering, as they create a dewy, fresh finish. Two bronzers we love: L’Oréal Paris Glam Bronze Mono and Nudestix Nudies All Over Face Color Bronze + Glow in Hey, Honey.
3
Nail the application
For a seamless look, bronzer should be applied to the temples, cheekbones and along the jawline. Hogan also recommends “buffing into the neck, hairline and at the back of your neck, if your hair is pulled back”.
4
Complete the look
Hogan recommends finishing with a highlighter. “For the ultimate faux glow, apply illumination on the high points of your face, the cheekbones, above your brows, down the centre of your nose and on the Cupid’s bow.” Try Nude by Nature Soft Focus Illuminator.
