How to fake glowing skin with makeup
Get your skin looking like a million bucks in minutes
Of all our #beautygoals, we’d have to say nabbing luminous, radiant skin is at the top of our list – because a healthy glow makes you look bloody amazing.
But truth is, it ain’t always easy. Especially in the winter, when your skin likes to get a little red, flaky and irritated, just for fun. The good news is that with the help of the right kind of products and a few cheeky beauty tricks, you can easily own that beautiful glow.
Sometimes you just gotta fake it ‘til you make it, right?
Toolkit
To really nail that lit-from-within look, you’ll need to make sure you have a liquid foundation on hand (we chose Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation), as well as a facial oil. We’re using Farsali Rose Gold Elixir for that glow-inducing surge of moisture.
For blush, we’ll be using L’Oréal Paris Infallible Longwear Shaping Stick Blush (good to know: a cream formula blends flawlessly into the skin and is pretty difficult to mess up!). You’ll also need a highlighter – we went with CHANEL Baume Essentiel, which is a cream highlighter.
While you can apply your foundation and oil combo with a brush or your fingers, using a makeup sponge like the original beautyblender will make the application seamless.
1
Mix your facial oil with your foundation
Put a pump and a half of foundation onto the back of your hand and mix it with a few drops of facial oil.
2
Blend with your makeup sponge
Blend the foundation/oil combo into your skin using a makeup sponge. Start at the centre of your face (this is usually where the most coverage is needed) and apply your foundation outwards using a dabbing motion, focusing on one half of your complexion at a time.
3
Apply a cream blush to your cheekbones
Using your fingertips, apply a cream blush to your cheekbones. The warmth of your hands will help the formula melt into your skin for a natural finish.
4
Add cream highlighter to the high points of your face
Apply a cream highlighter to the top of your cheekbones, brow bones and Cupid’s bow, using your fingertips. Blend out for the perfect shine.
5
Don’t forget your eyes!
Dab some additional highlighter across the top of your lids and in the inner corners of your eyes. This will open up your peepers and make you appear more awake!
The final look
And that’s how you fake glossy, glowing skin!
