The easiest winged liner ever
3 steps to the best flick of your life
Winged liner or the classic cat’s eye has been around since Cleopatra’s era. But now, it’s more versatile than ever: opt for a classic thin line for day, or amp up the glamour with a more graphic interpretation after dark. And thanks to gel liners and pen-style applicators, this iconic look is a cinch to replicate (yes, really). Here’s how to achieve a winged eyeliner look.
1
Imagine your line
“Look straight in the mirror, lifting the chin slightly, and start by imagining a line from the outer corner of the eye to the tip of the brow,” advises makeup artist Elsa Morgan.
2
Start drawing your line
“Following that angle draw a couple of centimetres with your eyeliner and then create a triangle back towards the lash line.
3
Finish your line
Fill it in and then line the rest of the eye, tapering it slightly as you work towards the inner corner of the eye.” And don’t forget about mascara.
