The Dyson Corrale was made for 2020’s hottest hair trends

The new-season styles to master now

September 02 2020

The lockdown life has allowed us to truly nail top knots, but one day soon freedom will come and we’ll need a fresh hairstyle ready to let the world know we’re back and better than ever.

And what better way to do so than by mastering the season’s biggest hairstyle trends?

From French-girl bobs to curtain bangs, not only do these styles reflect our new-found appreciation for low-maintenance beauty, but with the help of the Dyson Corrale™ straightener (Dyson’s latest beauty technology), these styles can be achieved while causing less hair damage.

All you have to do is pick one...

1. French-girl bobs

Super-sleek bobs began trending in 2018 thanks to celebrities such as Kim Kardashian and Olivia Culpo. Fast forward to 2020 and razor-sharp chin-length cuts are being replaced by undone, tousled lengths.

The French-girl bob evokes a laid-back mood that will lend all your outfits an insouciant edge. Look to It-girls Taylor LaShae and Jeanne Damas for styling cues.

To get the look, start by tying hair up into small sections. Taking one section at a time, place the Dyson Corrale™ straightener horizontally on your hair and rotate the straightener 360 degrees away from your face, while sliding the tool downwards.

The Dyson Corrale™ is designed with flexing manganese copper alloy plates, which gather hair neatly for enhanced styling and less hair damage¹ (read: reduced frizz and fewer flyaways2). Plus it’s cordless, so the manoeuvring needed for effortless curls just got a whole lot easier.

Repeat the process for each section, alternating the direction of curls. Finish the look by straightening your ends. Gently loosen curls with your fingers and then apply a texture spray.

2. Sleek and straight

Ultra-glossy, straight hair (favoured by the Kardashian-Jenner family, and models Emily Ratajkowski and Irina Shayk) will continue to be one of the biggest hair trends of the year. Offering an effortless polish to your overall look, straight hair reflects more light, making it appear shinier.

Now, getting that Kardasian-Jenner kind of straight hair just got easier thanks to the Dyson Corrale ™ straightener. By straightening hair using the new Dyson Corrale™ straightener, you can achieve super-straight hair with less hair damage¹. The genius flexible manganese copper alloy plates are machined to the width of a human hair, so each straightening stroke captures the entire section. No excessive frying of your hair from repetitive passes.

And unlike regular straighteners, the Dyson Corrale™ is engineered with an integrated sensor system that regulates the temperature of the plates 100 times a second. In other words, you can focus on your styling, knowing that your straightener will never exceed your set temperature.

Start by sectioning off freshly washed and dried hair. One section at a time, place the Dyson Corrale™ straightener close to the roots and glide to the ends. Repeat for all sections, reducing the temperature for sections near the hairline.

3. Curtain bangs

If you’ve contemplated getting a front fringe but are scared to make the plunge, curtain bangs are perfect for you. The longer fringe style is super versatile and can be styled as a front fringe or swept to the side à la Bella Hadid. They look most natural when teamed with curled-end hair.

To get the look, spray roots with water and then dry your hair, lifting the roots as you go to add volume. When hair is fully dry, section the hair into small parts. Starting with the hair at your neckline, glide the Dyson Corrale™ straightener through the hair. Rotate the straightener 45 degrees inwards at the ends to achieve the C-curl flick. Repeat throughout the hair. Smooth fringe, shaping ends under and away from the face.

The Dyson Corrale™ straightener offers cordless versatility, meaning you can chuck the hair tool into your bag and touch up your fringe throughout the day. With up to 30 minutes of cordless styling,3 it’s perfect for weekends away too.

4. '70s-inspired shag

‘70s beauty is having a moment – just ask Selena Gomez. The singer’s curly shag has inspired a hairstyle comeback that is great for hiding fringe mistakes (or any other lockdown-related hair mistakes for that matter) as it gives a lot of movement.

After sectioning hair, place the Dyson Corrale™ straightener horizontally on the hair, 5cm from the roots. Rotate the straightener 360 degrees towards the face, gliding the straightener downwards. For tighter curls, use smaller sections of hair.

The Dyson Corrale™ has three temperature settings, and although the curls for this look are tight, we recommend starting at the lowest to see how the style holds firsts. Particularly when working with smaller sections, less heat is usually required and with the intelligent heat control of the Dyson Corrale™ the temperature is evenly distributed.

Repeat the steps with each section, alternating directions as you go. Once all sections are done, shake out your hair and use your fingers to loosen curls.

1 Thermal damage measured by hair strength, when creating an equivalent straight style using minimal heat. Tested on flexing vs solid plates.

2 Direct image analysis vs untreated hair.

3 Exact run time depends on your hair and styling habits.
