Trust us, they’re easy to achieve

Fashion week is one of our favourite times to look for new inspiration for all things beauty related, and London Fashion Week certainly didn’t disappoint. The one trend that we loved the most was the low-slung ponytails that delivered on form and functionality, which is perfect to try this spring and summer season as the weather warms up. Here are three ways to spruce up your low ponytail look.

1

Accessorise with a bandana

A silky headscarf is the perfect accessory as it’s both pretty and practical at the same time, and we can’t get enough of this look from Temperley London. Keep wispy bits of hair away from your face by first tying the headscarf under your hair and secure with a double knot at the top of your head. Then, comb all your hair back to smooth out the texture, braid right to the bottom until you reach about two inches from the tips of your hair, and secure with a clear elastic band.

2

Twist your hair

If you want to add more texture to your hair, but also want to keep hair away from your face, go with a textured low ponytail, as seen at Eudon Choi’s show. Start by curling your hair in wide sections with a large barrel tong, then take a section down the middle of your head and twist haphazardly. Finish your look by tightly securing your ponytail at the nape of your neck, and use a paddle brush to comb through the ponytail to boost shine.

3

Add some bobby pins

This look as seen at Ports 1961 is perfect for those with lots of natural texture in their hair. Instead of using a brush to create a smooth surface, simply use your fingers to pull hair back into a low ponytail, and secure with a hair tie that matches your hair colour. Then, plait as you normally would, and hold it all together with another hair tie. For your last step, use two or three bobby pins all over to add a metallic edge to your look.
